Player Valuation: £80m
Think those two are really key points. Need to be way smarter on loans, and accept that 15-20m players are pretty much the new 3-5m from Moyes last time here.We can’t address the first team and the depth in one big go, there’s just way too much. I’m happy for a slower approach. Though I’m still expecting a decent outlay with a number of players coming in, 6-8 sounds about right but possibly more.
Alcaraz obligation will probably be triggered. Questions marks around Mangala/Broja/Lindstrom. I’d much prefer we look elsewhere for value considering the figures tied to them (though would be interested to see if Lyon want to lower the price on Mangala given their situation and his injury).
Key contract extensions are a priority, smart free transfers where available eg Walker Peters/Lampty could be shrewd for both depth and immediate contribution without hurting the war chest. Actual spend needed on the key attacking areas (right wing, striker) and another CB (Keane and Holgate most likely leaving and Tarkowski not getting younger). We don’t necessarily need to go ballistic but be smart. £20m doesn’t get you a lot these days, need to find value where it is and trust Moyes to coach them right.
Hoping with the new stadium, we can be a slightly better prospect for free contracts and current players wanting to stay past their current contracts.
Better use of loan slots go without saying
Need to utilize the multi club model also, Roma have a big squad, this season they loaned out three players who would have improved us for certain, Fe to Sunderland Abraham to Milan and Bove to Fiorentina.
Next season we need to take advantage of that
