Unless we've agreed a deal for Messi/Ronaldo/Bale for around 15M, I'd like to get a CB and a decent cover at RB first and then look to add an attacker. No names comes to my mind atm for a decent CB that can take over Jags' role in a couple of years. Kjaer went to Turkey for the Donner Kebabs and Shawcross isn't quiet what's needed either. Who else?

CBA with people who go on and on about resale value, proper obsessed about it christ. If the player will improve us NOW who's arsed? Cause im not. Mertens is 28 ffs, hardly old.

Mertens isn't old, no. If we were to sign him he'd get a 4/5 year deal, he will continue to perform at the same level he is now over the period of that contract, which would be unreal.

There is a but however, right now the argument seems Mertens or Shaqiri. Both players play to a very similar level at there best and will cost around the same. Mertens is a work horse, is so good at getting his teammates involved a really classy and very consistent player.

Shaqiri does have a higher ceiling, heaps of x-factor, can make something out of nothing and he does have a re-sale value and we do have to be real, with a lack of funds (compared to a lot of other sides around us), to me signing younger players who can still improve and then one day potentially be worth far more does have to be a real consideration.
