Also, Mertens over Shaqiri for me, if we are actually in for either of them.

Martens works a lot harder, and at the moment is the better player.

Shaqiri has the talent, but flatters to deceive a lot of the time for me. Would still have him here in a heartbeat like, but I think he's pretty similar to what we have already in Barkley and Deulofeu. Mertens in with McGeady out would be brilliant. Maybe Kev might be persuaded to stay then... but if he's set on a move/we're ready to sell, I'm sure he'll be off.

Both are better than Lennon plus both bring something extra to the team that Lennon does. Mertens on the left, Shaqiri in the center. Lennon is similar to Del in the fact he plays on the right.

Now if we miss out on Shaqiri we can still play Del in the center and Lennon on the right but Del's untested there and while I think eventually that might be his best position I wouldn't want him to take on that responsibility.

Barkley will play in the centre. He's not going to be dropped deep yet.

Van Dijk & Mertens would be a great window and one to be happy with. Maybe use the back end of the window to maybe bolster youth (ie Alberth Elis etc) and a loan or two if available (Barca)

I'd guess Martinez has about £15mil left so with these two sales possibly £26mil.

Linked to Mertens and Shaqiri for £10mil odd each and also need a centre back.

Just posing a question here, if we could sign those two for £20mil combined would you be happy with that or would it be better for us to go for one player for £20mil ?

That sort of money buys a Yarmolenko or an Isco level player..maybe even Bernardo Silva for cash + Mirallas...?

Great question. I think we should go for both.

Bernardo Silva has had a boss U21s. Deulofeu or Barkley would destroy that tournament as well. There's no guarantee at all he would hit the ground running this season.

The rest wouldn't come.

Plus we need cover. There's no way we're going to go injury free all season and both of those players aren't much a step down from the rest you listed.

Januzaj is a good player but he's a couple of seasons of regular football away which won't help us this season. Plus he has to stop falling over when surrounded by two players.

To be honest I'm not sure we are in for him anymore I think martinez has a lot of hope for galloway and ty Browning so he is looking for someone a bit older as a stop gap but I could be wrong.

i would imagine that the club would really prefer to get in any players before they ship off to pre-season

think i read they leaving on 07/07/2015
