why not? Previous world records were before the massive PL money deal. World records will be getting smashed all over the place over the next few years. We would never pay 30 million for him. I can guarantee that, it values him at roughly close to the world record which just isn't happening.
I don't mind selling Lukaku to purchase 4 players that improve our overall starting XI.
That could equate to - gulp - zero net spend. Then whatever funds we did have allocated we can just smash on a top striker.
It would go a long way to saying to the fans that we do actually have some ambition. We shall see

Something's certainly afoot.You're a legend eggs
FFP and STCC are irrelevant, so don't worry about them, we made so much profit this year were no where near FFP and as for wages we can spend an extra 30-50 mil before we sell Ross or RomWhilst that sounds easy, we have to consider our wage bill with FFP.
I'm sure the board have done everything financially possible to try and convince him to stay whilst also giving RK some room to bring new faces in.
Any extra 30k sounds nothing but in reality that's over an addition 1mill to a wage budget in the region of 75-80mill which we are probably constrained by?
Yes but not for a 21 year old goalkeeper who for all intents and purposes has done nothing to warrant a huge price tag. If the lad had single handedly kept sunderland up then fair enough but he is just a young keeper who looks like he 'could' be good. If we want him based on that hopeful potential then great, but when you look at much better goalkeepers going for much less than 30 million, from a relegated club as well, that price is far too high for any sensible club to be signing at.why not? Previous world records were before the massive PL money deal. World records will be getting smashed all over the place over the next few years.
Pickford, Keane, Klaassen and Sandro is a whole new spine of players aged 24 and under.
