There's an awful lot of dross that the two Milanese clubs have got on their books between them

Concerns me a bit

Bacca, for example, is not the level we need.

Have a look at the "highlights" video someone did of him this season

The first 5 mins or so show just how badly average he is

...Lapadula was also mentioned, from the clips I saw he looks more the RK type.

Mate. He's had a scoring record of basically 1 in 2 since he moved to Europe, 1 in 3 in international football. He was a star in a very good Sevilla side that won the Europa League (which we'll be competing in) twice. I reckon he can replace Kone and compete with DCL myself like.

Erm....that makes him look quite good.

Agree

Unless we are looking at this level as we simply do not have the budget for anyone better.

Not much wrong with that.

Milan fans are desperate to see the back of him, it seems

Just not the level we need

Just watching him, he's quick enough but misses a silly number of chances. Technically ok. Works hard enough.

There's nothing about him when I watch him that makes me think "I'd like to see that at Everton"

He's alright, but at nearly 31 and presumably costing a fairly big package, I'd much rather look elsewhere. Don't think we need to be helping Milan out by taking any of the players they are deeming surplus to requirements unless they're being daft about them (and in this case, I don't think they are)

I'd especially worry if he was going to be the like-for-like replacement for Lukaku

Would be very happy with Bacca although I would be hoping he's more of a wide player in a 4-3-3 as I do think it's going to be very risky losing Roms 25 goals and replacing him with strikers from abroad who may or may not flop. Signing an established forward with PL experience is a necessity imo.

Would be happy with something like:

Sandro Benteke Bacca

Although I think Koeman will go for a more creative Wideman like Pienaar in his prime on that left hand side like Tadic.

Seems Carlos Jacomuzzi knows Steve Walsh via both having worked for Chelsea at around the same time in 2005-2007-ish and so we have that Serie A connection.

The main focus is likely Bacca and Deulofeu discussions. The other players linked seem to be general talk by Jacomuzzi on the radio, and just confirming we tentatively enquired about Merten's situation in the recent past.

Bacca has a €30m buyout according to Wikipedia but I doubt he'd cost that much.

Could take him or leave him, but I wouldn't say he's not at the required standard.

Fan opinions are difficult to measure I think, so I wouldn't read too much into that. For every Everton fan who tells you Lukaku is the best striker we've had in 30 years, there'll be another who says he's a lazy flat track bully who's not fit to lace Stracqualursi's boots. For all the positive retweets etc from Sunderland fans about Pickford yesterday, there were more than a few (including a mate of mine) who say that he's got it all on to prove himself. Different strokes for different folks.
