Agreed right up until Coleman got injured then his effectiveness went massively down, he plays that role he needs to have a player in that role overlapping to stop him getting doubled up on.

Aye.

Step up Jonjoe...

Though, Klaassen coming in would also help an awful lot. He often drifts out wide and circles into the area

Not convinced at all about Niang. Seen him play quite a lot, and he doesn't really strike me as the kind of player who can help take us to the next level.

If he does join, I guess we've just got to trust that Walsh knows what he's doing, but if we rate him that highly, why didn't we make a move for him in Jan when Milan were desperate to get rid?

But if you think of it in the sense that he's replacing Kone...

“I’m a striker,” he said. “I feel I can have my greatest impact there because I’m free to roam around the pitch, take players on, have shots and create chances.”

Not an attacker though mate.... maybe you should go and tell him that.
It's not about self perception, its about what he does.

Is he a player that leads the line?

Is he a player that plays the advanced MF role and is tasked with being a false nine as many are in the game?

How can the answer to either be yes? If he doesn't do either he isn't an attacker. He likes to get forward and prefers it at that end of the pitch. That's all he's saying there.

Hmm, that's not really a good argument, as he's costing upwards of £15m if the rumours are to be believed. That's still a lot of money for a player that isn't really very good at anything.

Where do you think his best position is? Martinez and koeman seemed to have tried him in a number of positions, maybe that's partly to blame for his inconsistency.
I always maintain that when he gets to a CL spot club they will play him further back in a Yaya Toure role and allow him license to do wtf he wants.

He's a player who mainly creates chances. In Koeman's system they are used in the three forward roles, not the midfield.

In any of Ronny's regular systems, that is either the striker or the two wide players.

As you rightly say, Ross isn't a No.9, so that means he's been played out wide.

Your argument falls down on the fact that we're literally signing a big money player to fill the role you're convinced Ross would be if he stayed...

Wonder why they haven't bought him then...

When he plays further back he gets bogged down against the better sides, or physical sides that double up on him.

Perfect example is Chelsea at home in May.

Ross? At which CL club do you think that will be then?

Not exactly been a rush has there?

That 'big signing' wont be part of a front three in a 433.
