If Keane is the level we are going for in the summer 7th is the best we will do, AGAIN

Time to put up or shut up from Moshiri

I can see where you are coming from, but do you actually think we can get the likes of koulibaly and VVD to come here when either could have the pick of champions league teams. I'm not being pessimistic just realistic, Keane and Gibson as it stands would be a serious upgrade on our present defence.

Few reasons this is harsh

Firstly, I think Keane has been absolutely top class this season and there are teams above us who would like him but he's more likely to choose us because he wants to play

Secondly, he'll cost £25m or so, regardless of what anyone thinks, we have limits to what we are allowed to spend because of FFP, so if we want to get better quickly, we need to not put all of our eggs in one basket on the likes of a VVD

Thirdly, there are six teams above us that are seen as bigger and better teams than us. Look at the way Man City built over the first couple of years they had money, I've posted this before but these are some of the players they signed in the first two seasons after they won the lottery:

Shay Given
Craig Bellamy
Gareth Barry
Wayne Bridge
Shaun Wright-Phillips
Adam Johnson
Joleon Lescott
Tal Ben Haim
Roque Santa Cruz

It's very difficult to suddenly get huge established stars to join you. You need to build up first, and the most logical way to do that is to buy the obtainable players who will improve you until you're at a level where you can start looking to go and buy the top players. We're not there yet and getting impatient about it doesn't do anyone any favours.

Depends on how much money we have available but we need to spread signings throughout the team with a CB the priority. I would prefer two new CB's but if we got one in and were able to strengthen elsewhere too then ok.

If we signed two CB's and a GK funds may be limited to do not much else. I expect we will spend relatively big on 2-3 players and the rest will be prospects/bargains from abroad.

We need to be looking at about another 6 signings to cope with Europe and that seems a big ask but necessary.

There is still plenty of scope to top up our budget, I don't know what fee we'll get for Deulofeu but imagine it will be decent enough. I don't see McCarthy or Funes Mori staying either. Surely we would get 30m combined there, having just sold Cleverley too.

I hope RK and SW take their holidays early this summer there is a huge amount of work to be done. They have in reality about 8 weeks to do the lions share of the squad overhaul.

He's had one decent season, And now we are willing to stump up 25m for him

It's like those lot over the park when they lash 20m+ on lower end players who are the flavor of the month
