Personally I think Dowell needs to go out on loan and play week in week out to learn and come on cos at the minute, imo, he's too in and out of games, does good things one minute, then nothing for 20 and then pops up with a bit of magic. I just think he needs to go out, possibly to the championship, to find that consistency in his performances week after week.
What you have written sound just like Barkley has been for us, I just hope Dowells Everton career goes better than Barkleys has, it will all depend on whether Dowell want to put the hard work in (Koemans way) Barkley doesn't want to.

Anyone else realize how the core of Martinez's disappointing team has slowly been dismantled? Lukaku, Barkley, Deuolefeu, Robles all gone. Barry and Jagielka's role reduced to an influential yet hardly important on the pitch. And the deadwood, most notably Kone, McGeady, Gibson, Oviedo(who was quite bad and didn't do much if you forget THAT goal) gone. McCarthy just barely on the fringes.

Even the youth Martinez brought in, Galloway and Browning, very rarely seen now. And Mirallas, who fell out with the Spaniard, now starting to play a key role and really live up to his potential?

Exciting times ahead lads. Everton are awake again.

Because they won't spend £200m on a player?

I know you have a boner for Koulibaly but at least try and form a legitimate response to my posts otherwise you're wasting my time.

He keeps calling him a superstar CB, hes not even a superstar in his own house.

We could sign him tomorrow and half the fanbase would wonder who he was and he claims other players would take notice, its utterly comical.

Everton’s hunt for at least three new signings does not depend on the sale of Ross Barkley, insists Ronald Koeman.

The Blues boss confirmed that he expects Barkley to leave the club this summer after the 23-year-old rejected a new contract and told him he wants a “new challenge”.

Koeman says the club are yet to receive an offer for the England international but he accepts he will lose the Academy product, with Spurs among those interested.

The Everton boss has confirmed he is still in the market for a striker, with Oliver Giroud and Christian Benteke on their list, wants Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson and is in the market for a left-sided defender to cover for the injured Ramiro Funes Mori.

Koeman has also been keen to find cover at left-back and in defensive midfield but has confirmed that Gareth Barry is not for sale, despite interest from West Brom.

And the Everton boss - targeting the eighth, ninth and 10th senior signings of the Blues’ summer - says their plans do not hinge on the sale of Barkley.

“It is not about Ross,” he said.

“We did really good work and I didn’t expect to get all the players in before tomorrow, some need more time and that’s all about business.

“I’m still not nervous and we have time but we have enough new players in.

“But, okay, everybody knows that we have tried to get one or two more in.”

Everton sold Romelu Lukaku in a deal worth £90m to Manchester United and says the club are working hard at finding a replacement - but admits he may not land the player he wants.

“We try the best we can get, it is all about qualities, about qualities of the striker, playing alongside Sandro is also a possibility,” he said.

“I know which one I like - but whether we (get him)...that’s difficult.”

As Koeman prepares the Blues for tomorrow night’s return to the Europa League, he says he is building a squad that can support runs in both domestic and European competition.

“Yes of course we had some key players to sign, but we did also business with players who can be back up to provide more competition for players in some positions,” Koeman added.

“We have some young players who can develop this season.

“We need a squad of 25-26 and let’s hope we will have difficulties about the schedule and number of games because that’s what we want - we want to be successful in Europe and have the number of games that brings.”

In a sense your right mate. Barkley had the tough hand of Koeman this season and it seems he doesn't fancy anymore of it and wants to move on. Good luck to the lad though...

I do like Dowell though and think he's technically really good but he needs to get more involved in games and for longer periods. Goes missing for too long imo. Suppose we'll see if Koeman gives him his break this season or wether he puts him out on loan to kick on and gain experience and find consistency in his game?!

Loan for barbosa is being said by some news outlets

Could be a good move that, to test the waters with him. It's not too far fetched for us to be in for him, Leicester were in for him big time last summer and he ended up choosing Inter but obviously Walsh and his team at Leicester did all the background work on him so could be pushing this one on Koeman?!
