Summer Transfer Window 2017

Look I am not going to knock the club after an aggressive summer transfer window but things have SLOWED down to the point that we are in danger of letting the momentum get away for us.

We really need to move through the gears this week and get the players the manager wants in the club, everything else is a distraction in the media and for the club.
We've made a number of key acquisitions to strengthen key roles before the start of August, leaving a whole month until the window closes.

There's more than ample time to close up any other signatures or line up new targets, so it's a bit crass to expect it all to be completed instantly.

Instead of losing momentum, I think some people are merely getting carried away with what was merely a great start to the transfer window.

Get Barkley and McCarthy out of the doors.. that's easily 50million minimum. Robles will go and that'll be another 5million I reckon.

Use that money to get Sigurdsson, then add the Robles money and another 30million to get a quality striker and a quality centre back in, then our shopping is complete.

..sounds simple but from what Koeman says there has been no bids for Barkley. You have to think suitors are keeping their powder dry until late in the window knowing Everton are more likely to accept a lower bid.

That's exactly what I believe too. I think 20 - 25million will be negotiated with Spurs in the final week. Similar fee for McCarthy

I can see the like of Palace, Bournemouth and Stoke make bids for him. He would probably be better off in France or Spain to be honest but won't get 100k a week there.

..possibly, but I think he'll end up at Spurs, Arsenal or United. They need homegrown squad players and will be attracted to a young player on the cheap.

McCarthy will go near the end of the Window when Palace, West Brom or Swansea get worried they are short on midfield numbers.
On the striker front, whether Giroud is up for it or not a separate loan signing would make a lot of sense right now as insurance against getting that top target that Ronko wants. It maybe we don't get that guy until deadline day or even January. Then there is always the possibility that Giroud gets grocked... the loan could be really good backup.
So then who would be that loaner?

not so sure now. If we sold him and barkley that would leave just 18 year old tom davies as backup to gueye and klaassen's box-to-box role. We would have to buy another CM again then to go with the other 3 signings we need. it may happen in january, but i think it'd be silly to sell him. Unless nobody actually wants ross and he's here until jan again.

The Richard Wright method. I think he will struggle to get into all 3 starting XI's bar an injury crisis at those clubs and neither Mourinho or Poch will put an arm around his ego.

He will likely crumble on his first match back at GP so a clean break makes sense.

Still wish him all the best like.

it's been so many seasons since we haven't loaned one player. I would truly love us to actually break that sequence this season (i'm not counting donkor) ha

I think rooney and sandro sharing that burden for now may be enough, i'd be happy with us waiting a couple of weeks into the season before giroud realises wenger won't use him again before demanding to leave. He's the number 1 target so nothing wrong with patience, i'm sure we have plenty of backup options in mind (especially with what koeman echoed yesterday), but weirdly all the ones i could think of would actually cost more than him, which is a bit odd for plans b, c and d ha.

I agree that some people are getting carried away with a good start to the window, but in a different way to you.

Our start to the window was undoubtedly good (I wouldn't go as far as great). I think Pickford and Keane are good additions, I'm excited by Sandro, pleased with Rooney, and see Onyekuru as a potential game changer in terms of our recruitment - signing such a highly rated player and just loaning him out is a very un-Everton thing to do. Since then though, we've lost Lukaku, and it appears Barkley will be following him. If that happens, I'd say the window as a whole is only really a 6/10 as it stands. Losing what were in my opinion two of our best players would be a big blow, and I think the players we've brought in basically just negate the loss of those players rather than massively improving the squad from last year.

The window can become a 9/10 if we manage to bring in a quality striker and a bit of creativity, even a 10/10 if we also get another quality centre half. I agree that we're in danger of losing a bit of momentum though, starting the season without any further first team players would be a disappointment in my opinion.

I expect a Stones (Last season at Goodison) like performance when he returns to Goodison. Davies, Gana, Schneiderlin and Klaasen closing him down on the ball whilst his fans shout turrrrnnnnn Ross!!
