Who are these wingers going to cross the ball to?
Apart from Sandro, who doesn't look the typical target man, we have no one.
Currently when we have the ball centrally, we knock it out wide,
There's no one in the box so it goes out again to the other wing, accompanied by congratulatory and excited cheers and clapping, for such a good ball, and then it goes in again, and comes out to Snides or Gueye, who win it back and knock it out wide again, and so this continues until the opposition get it or it goes for a corner.
Normally on a our corner, our goalie is the 3rd EFC player to touch the ball.
We need a striker or everything else is a waste.

We need wingers with pace in the first 4-5 yards who can beat a man but i don't think we're looking for that type of player. I hate to say it but players like Mane or Salah would be perfect for us. Gray is just another overrated English headless chicken imo.

And i really don't know where Rooney's gonna play. Behind a target man like Giroud would be impossible. That would be the slowest partnerships of the PL.

I don't understand. You want a pacy winger who can beat a man, but don't want Gray who could do exactly that? If he had an exotic name and played for Sevilla you'd be all over him.

Reckon he'd be a good addition to the team and could really stretch games with his pace and dribbling.

Completely agree, we've been playing tippy tappy on the wing for too long, even with Lukaku it was all cutbacks and no crosses.
We need more options upfront, if we get any injuries upfront we will struggle. We used all our luck on Lukaku not getting injured.

Add to that any injury to our defence and we are literally back to square one...

No i wouldn't. I want players who can beat a man in short space. Gray is a player who needs a lot of space.

...Gray struggled for game time for England U21s in the summer tournament which was a surprise given that the Norwich winger was getting a game in front of him. Said a lot to me.

Murphy wasn't it....we had been linked with him in the past..he looked dreadful to me.

We have no consistent wingers who can beat a man and cross.
We have no one in the middle to convert these imaginary crosses.
We are doomed

..I thought he looked poor too but he was getting a game before Gray. I think there are 2 Murphy brothers at Norwich, one scored a screamer at a Goodison but I'm not sure which one we were linked with, I think it might have been the one who didn't make the England squad.

we have Lookman and then Bolaise comes back and next season we get Onyekuru. Is Gray really needed or could the money be spent better elsewhere.....?

I used to love watching that united side with Giggs, Kanchelskis and Sharpe....2 wingers.

Perhaps we could do the same...Onyekuru, Lookman, Dowell and Gray....

I can see your point but Gray is well ahead and better right now then Lookman, we dont know how Onyekuru will turn out and Bolaise i still a long way from being tip top.

Lookman is miles away from it mate, have bad doubts about him myself.

Bewildering comments....did you guys watch the England u20s games...Lookman was absolute class.

TBH I couldn't see Gray being a better bet than Lookman...could be good for them to play together and alternate wings or rotate...

Ok.

Im pretty sure most people said he would be a 2 year stop gap, and instantly improve our defence. And thats exactly what hes been. As much as people want to complain, they also complained about our keepers, and yet we were vastly improved defensively last season.

Has to come from somewhere, and it wasnt Michael Keane last season.

It could be argued that Tim Howard wasn't in goal and our midfield was better and sat very deep.

I would personally yes. I would also be much happier with that arrangement as well.

I think Gray is separate to Siggy though. We need pace in the team and are always on the look-out for bright young stars.

In an ideal world what type of players would you have in our wide positions?
