I know it's the other Ireland but how does it compare to say Coleman from Sligo?

Linfield are the best team in NI. Probably slightly better than Sligo. But overall quality of the Northern league is shocking, way worse than the south.

The loi is much stronger then the league up north. Cork City beat Linfield fairly comfortably in last year's EL. Hard to see how a player goes straight from NI to the PL. Seani Maguire left the loi for Preston for 150k this summer, he will be a PL player next summer if not in January. Best player to come off the island in years

Plenty of kids make it in the PL or at a high level but it's very unusual for a kid to not have been taken across the water much younger, if there's any chance of them being PL quality. I've seen Smyth, and he's not close to the best I've seen at irish league level so I'm surprised at the links.

Africa is where it's at for youngsters at the minute.

They bought him for 1 million € and he signed a 4 or 5 year deal. Apparently he's tipped to be in the Nigeria selection. So now everywhere the narrative is: Dennis > Onyekuru. I don't like Club Brugge.

Tbf I think that's changed over the last 10 years. None of Doyle, Long, Coleman, Holohan, Meyler, Kevin Long etc went to England at an early age and still made decent careers for themselves. I think the best way now is to stay here and then go at 19/20 after playing a season or two here

Seems to be slightly different up north here. The best kids nearly all still go very young. But then there's no value in players playing in our league as it is utter rubbish and will probably regress any technical ability a kid has. The LOI looks much better from the bits I've seen.

Dortmund want £130 million for Dembele
£109 million for Coutinho
£198 million for Neymar

We've been tucked up rotten for Lukaku, one of the best strikers in Europe and we sell for a pittance.
Just wait until you see how many Tesco Clubcard points we get in return for Barkley when he jets off to Huddersfield Town in the dying hours of the window.
