I think the second half performance as much as the result is terrible. Don't get me wrong surrendering the lead against 10 was very poor. However had we have done that while attacking them, not finish our chances and have a sucker punch that is one thing. Last night we froze though.
At a key moment in the game when any of the other top 6 would have killed City we stood off.
That's the big worry for me. 1-1 can happen. 10 men when playing at home can get a goal back, goodness knows they've got enough lads to score out of nothing. It's part of a pattern now though that goes back 3 managers. We don't deal with being favourites in big games well enough. We freeze.
Against 11 we played better. Essentially when the pressure was off and we had a game plan of stifling them. When the onus was on us we froze.
Look at Burnley at Chelsea last week. They nearly through it away as well but that was nativity not freezing. You could see them go through the gears when they sensed weakness and attack.
It's my biggest concern of last night. The result and two lost points is fine, it's August and it's a game I felt we'd get nothing from. However we will not win trophies, or win at away grounds if we keep losing our heads at key moments.
Without going into a rambling post, if we tried to kill them off we would have been beaten easily.
By pushing up we would have had Holgate and Keane (both right sided) with any pace and they could have countered easily through Baines, Jags and Williams.
Also, it was clear when Klaassen and Sigurdsson came on rather than Lookman and besic he just wanted to give them game time while passing out of danger, but neither were up to speed and the game was crying out for pace and destruction from us.

Exactly. We only used the right side of the field. We had no presence on the leftI saw somebody else mention this, but losing Walker didnt hurt City, cos he wasnt even in the game anyway.
I think it all depends on budgetAgree with the outs, ins I have a hope still that Giroud reconsiders as the window gets close, cb we should be all over howedes available and a bargain price and fits what we need perfectly
We'd be an absolute rock solid team if we added those two and a bloody good one aerially to boot
Oh yeah throw in dendoncker too
Personally I think you're living in dreamland mate. If those 3 happen I'd even put a few quid bet on us getting top 4 AND the cups.Agree with the outs, ins I have a hope still that Giroud reconsiders as the window gets close, cb we should be all over howedes available and a bargain price and fits what we need perfectly

@orly @Sapie88Not a poster, more a reader and never come across any info normally but through a work outlet I heard today that Everton ( I support neither Everton or Liverpool btw) have made a general enquiry about Sturridge. Not likely to be successful and was/is a loan to buy approach. Thought I'd pass it on. Cheers.
