DCL may be the long term answer indeed, although hard to say really as hardly seen him and was out wide mainly when he was played.

If we are aiming to push the top 4 and better though, need better than our second choice being this lad up top, pelle even though I'm no fan would have been a good solid short term option if he hadn't taken the lure of the chicken fried rice. As for who we could get to play that role, got no idea really

Siggurdson is a weird one, his value to Swansea massively outweighs his value to those who may want him as a squad player etc, and he's not good enough to displace his equivalent in any top 6 side, and that was shown at spurs.

Ericksen, Mata, coutinho, hazzard, Silva/de bruyne, ozil/cazorla.

All are better options which top 6 teams already have. Personally think Barkley is a better player myself and if not will certainly go on to be.

As a squad option for 20m then yeah, but doubt he'd do that as he moved from spurs in order to start games, and Swansea will want a lot more than 20m.
Yes agree with all that mahrez intrigues me on form he is exactly what we need but without watching him more or actually knowing him it's hard to tell if he would work or be a distaster I'm sure Steve Walsh will know if this season v last season is what your likely to get from him I.e inconsistency or if he could be nurtured into a top player year on year.

Clearly the mata ship has sailed wether we ever had a chance who knows but this type of players is what we need

I checked siggursdon's goal stats out 3 pens & a free kick which leaves 4 from open play barkley has 4 one a free kick so only one more open play goal yes he plays in a worse team but completely agree with you he is not the answer to our attacking issues. He would help but I think we need someone to help knit it all together & then we need to sort the defence so we can play more attackers.

Not sure on siggurdson assists as couldn't get data on set pieces or open play on them. I would definitely have him just don't think he is going to take us to another level he will add depth.

Hopefully Calvert lewin aerially can offer the aerial threat you speak off particularly once he fills out he certainly has the height & gets up well.
Watching the match yesterday the stand out part of Sigurdsson's play was his corners. Every one was right on the money and dead ball proficiency in general is something we're lacking in our squad. He also brings an end product as regards goals. However, I was surprised how little he contributed to the game overall. Even in one of his poorer games, Ross still contributes more to our overall play.

This playmaker position is important and imo it's vital that we get the right player in. I'm not convinced Sigurdsson is the answer. If we can get him I'd love us to go for Lewis Baker from Chelsea. Or try our hand at Hakim Ziyech from Ajax who, annoyingly, we could have got for less than £10m in the summer.

I wonder if Lanzini might be the player. Overtime I watch him he reminds me of Coutinho.

To be honest I dont think we ever even tried to get hm or that he was doing to be sold anyway, people just took it for granted that he would be going because of his previous with Jose

What little I've seen of him he is that type of player that I'm after. What I'm not sure of is his consistency. Also what's he like at dead ball?. He wouldn't have had much opportunity at West Hammer with Payet being in the team.

Looking at his stats they aren't that impressive, but I realise that you cant always rely on them. But 4 assists in over a season and a half is not very impressive for a playmaker.

Bottom line is I've not seen enough of him mate. But I would be happy to go with Walsh if he thinks he's good enough.

Where would we play him though, I can't see him working in a front 3, to play him in a centre 3 probably means no Davies. He does well at Swansea because he's their main man and almost plays a free roll. I like him as a player but I just don't think he's be that effective for us to be honest mate. I think the same thing would happen that happened at Spurs

Not necessarily, when he was at Spurs all their new players, Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli & Himself struggled and it's not until under Pochettino (Sigurdsson was long gone then) that those players improved. And at Spurs he was played wide a lot, and he does play there a fair bit at Swansea but he's mainly an Att CM and a quality one at that that has improved with age and games at Swansea.

He'd definitely fit in well in a midfield 3 alongside Gueye & Schneiderlin. The way those 2 play would free up Sigurdsson to go get forward and make things happen in the final third. He'd offer us a much needed goal threat from the centre of the park and he's deadly from set pieces which these days we seem to lack a player with that quality.

Personally I think he'd be a great buy and it seems Koeman is keen. Wanted him in the summer (Sigurdsson admitted himself we wanted him) and Huw Jenkins admitted they turned down a big bid for him in January and Welsh journalists connected to Swansea believe it was us, so it could be something we revisit in the summer?!

He is really bad and I have no idea how he's managed to look like a serviceable centre back for HULL.

The lad has pedigree mate, Italy international right the way up including senior, Inter captain after Zeneti.

Looked decent in the last couple of games and the above isn't to be confused with an Anthony Gardener bio.

That said just the couple of games I've seen.
