You can't build a winning side in just one season. It's promising we have invested since January, and yes, we need maybe a striker and a CB to play alongside Keane.

But. This project will take time. And we will have plenty more days like today. Onwards and upwards.

Not having that sorry at all.

We've had days like this for too many years now and am fed up of it.

Attitude and personnel not good enough again.

Yes you cant build a team from scratch in a season, however you can use common sense and see;

A -- You don't play 3 at the back against the master of this formation (Conte) who knows how to beat it

B -- If you sign a top keeper and centre back then you should ensure that another top centre back is signed or theres a huge gap

C -- Never have a 32 year old left back and only Cuco Martina as cover

D -- If you play 2 old centre backs and an old wing back then you will sit deep so start with a target man

I don't buy into this 'Striker is key' talk from Koeman. We need to improve the defence so we can play a high line...if not we will sit deep and need to play long balls all day long.

Even with all these sales we just need a Centre back, left back and a forward.

If we only signed VVD or similar quality at centre back i'd be happy.

Despite the disappointment of today's result vs Chelsea, I feel sure in my own mind that moves are in motion to bring in two, maybe three more players.
It's a long shot, but a move for Diego Costa isn't out of the question and whilst we look unlikely to move for VvD - a player I'm sure we'd all agree would be a huge improvement and one for the future - I think we will see an addition to the defence.

There looks to be a couple of players heading for the exit door, namely Mirallas and probably Barkley... so maybe two out, two in... and then Bolasie, Coleman, RFM and McCarthy to return from injury.

I'm a bit surprised that one of Robles and Stekelenburg haven't moved on as one of them is 99.9% going to be totally surplus to requirements barring a horrendous goalkeeping injury problem.

Wait, I just read we're going to sell Mirallas? So we're literally going to have Lookman and Lennon as the only wide players in the entire squad despite the only time we've looked remotely balanced so far this season was when we had two wingers on at the same time. Great.
