My predictions for tomorrow
In vlasic
Out niasse loan Lennon loan Robles undisclosed
And maybe a panic loan of a striker that can't hit a cows arse with a banjo be loved to be proved wrong but can't see it

Because the players the club wanted either haven't been made available, or don't want to leave their current clubs?
You're a reasoned thinker - do you settle for anyone or attempt to get the players that the club actually want to buy?

We're now at the 'ten to two' stage of a night out when you hunt around the club for someone half decent because the lass you've been making eyes at all night has decided to go off home with some flash tit instead.

I always tended to cut my losses at this point and just go home rather than grab a fumble by the bins with some ropey looking girl, all whilst hoping your mates don't see. Probably why I was single for so long :(

Go for the grope, every time

You are absolutely right in what you say mate, but I think you misunderstood the posters comments in the context of his overall post. I don't think his intention was to say that there aren't bargains to be had with players under the radar, as clearly there are. It was more that players who are widely accepted to be worth £50m or more will, in fact, cost £50m or more. And the probability is that said players are unlikely to have Everton as top of their wish list. Fair point I thought.
Yeah the point about tiers is a fair one, but I think we all accept that don't we? Nobody thinks we're going to sign Messi or Ronaldo, we know where we are in the pyramid.

It's fairly obvious that players 'widely accepted' as being worth £50m will cost that much to buy, the point is that you don't have to pay £50m to buy someone who is actually worth it, which is what the poster claimed initially.

Is it at all possible, that given the breadth of coverage on Deadline Day, that fact that big signings on the last day seem to be remembered more than many of the earlier ones, that the player/agents or even clubs postpone a deal in order to get maximum exposure?
Maybe by a day but not by weeks/months.

No chance a club is going to risk missing out on trophies/CL qualification for the sake of getting a yellow banner on deadline day. That's effectively what you'd be doing by waiting. In our case we've played 7 games already, we could have been out of Europe and bottom of the league if we'd waited to sign Pickford for example.

At the start of the window, I really wanted a target man. However I agree with you looking at the pace of the other top teams this season (RS, City and Chelsea) they have so much pace in their sides.
I'd reluctantly go for Vardy, as he would give us the pace we so desperately need. Alternatively, we could get a striker who has both pace and physicality: Dembele or an out and out target man: Dzeko.

I agree at the start of the window I would have loved to have bought Giroud and then surrounded him with pace on either side and from attacking midfield but by signing Rooney, Gilfi & Klassen and with Lookman not looking ready, Bolasie out long term and Kev lacking consistency if we buy a slow target man now we are looking at a season of turgid 1 dimensional football
