Progress
Diego Costa's return to Atlético Madrid inches closer to reaching a conclusion as Chelsea and Atlético Madrid representatives met on Wednesday to finalise a deal worth 43 million euros and 11 million in add-ons.
Fernando Llorente's imminent arrival at Chelsea edges Costa closer to Los Rojiblancos, with the Premier League club requiring the transfer money to invest in three new additions before the transfer window closes. The Brazilian-born Spain international left Atlético for The Blues in 2014, managing an impressive return of 58 goals and 24 assists in 120 games in London.
Options
With Atlético's transfer ban upheld until January, Costa has a number of options open to him in the meantime. The first is to remain at Atlético to train with his future team-mates, and the second is a loan deal, with clubs such as Everton, Besiktas and Las Palmas already showing interest in utilising the player's goalscoring prowess and presence.
