Summer Transfer Window 2017

Well, that's why Moshiri isn't definitely a fraud yet, because there's, erm, 'extenuating circumstances' that you mention about high-priced wantaway players.

So it may not be the same thing, but whilst I could excuse John Stones as that was a bit unexpected, we've had well enough time to know Lukaku and Barkley are off and bring in the replacements and spend properly accounting that money. FFP isn't the excuse - hell, selling players high allows you to spend more in principle. (I don't know if Mosh is a fraud, but there's grounds to suspect it, and he's been here long enough now to be able to dispel that if wanted to).

I don't know, maybe not expressing what I mean - perhaps I could do it in song...

But you completely ignored the bit where you said we've broken even and I said we've a net spend of £42m, and thats before the window is closed.

Also, as far as I'm aware, Barkley and Lukaku had offers on the table into the summer. Even if they had indicated they might want to leave, we offered them new deals until it was clear they were going, and then we tried to get the best deal for both. Just as other teams have done, Ie, Spurs, Arsenal, possibly Liverpool).

I think there's also a case here of Koeman making a very deliberate point about the previous regime and wanting to clean house and get everything his way. So the idea of selling is a deliberate ploy on his behalf as much as some cynical plot to be frugal.

But by the same token, I think it would be pointless and stupid to sell the players we have, and then just spend all the profits on top of what we spent just to prove a point. Like I say, it's common sense, and if we can buy, sell, strengthen and remain in profit, I see it as a positive. Plenty obviously disagree.

Not ITK, just confident that the facts add up to this:
There will be a striker and a left sided defender, plus a couple of u23s at least. There is a £60m credit facility in place, so no last minute sell-to-buy type problems. In a strange way it is a positive that names have not been leaked as it means there is still a chance of two quality signings. Plan B deals for both positions have been agreed in principle though and sadly I feel we'll have to live with at least one of these tomorrow.
Going to bed now - hopefully we'll all sleep better tomorrow night though.

Reckon we will end up buying Vermaelen considering Koeman said he wanted a left sided CB who can cover at LB. Hope he ends up going to Villa instead.
