Summer Transfer Window 2017

So a player loaned out for the season and a player who has'nt even signed you are counting as first team players.
By all accounts Vlasic is done so he counts. If you don't want to count Onyekuru then don't but people seem to be counting Keita for that lot and it's no different

Well for me, they have invested in the youth system quite well this off season and upgraded several positions while shipping out blokes who do not wish to be here. Rome wasn't built in a day and some of you forget this. We all knew that this was going to be a 3-5 year process and I for one am ready to enjoy this ride. You also need to remember that we have several very promising players out on loan that will help us in the next year or two.

But you completely ignored the bit where you said we've broken even and I said we've a net spend of £42m, and thats before the window is closed.

Also, as far as I'm aware, Barkley and Lukaku had offers on the table into the summer. Even if they had indicated they might want to leave, we offered them new deals until it was clear they were going, and then we tried to get the best deal for both. Just as other teams have done.

I think there's also a case here of Koeman making a very deliberate point about the previous regime and wanting to clean house and get everything his way.

But by the same token, I think it would be pointless and stupid to sell the players we have, and then just spend all the profits on top of what we spent just to prove a point. Like I say, it's common sense, and if we can buy, sell, strengthen and remain in profit, I see it as a positive. Plenty obviously disagree.

I didn't, I just didn't want to nitpick.

You put £30m for Pickford and Keane, when at least one was probably £25m. Also, I specifically said when taking Barkley's sale for £30m into account we'd be at close to zero, so even by your figures we'd have only spent around £10m, which is peanuts yet probably still a high estimate.

I'd already said myself there's time in the window for that to change, but I was talking about the state of play now. If we end up with a net of £60m+, that's a successful sign of ambition and what I expect. But, right now, that hasn't happened, no matter what way we throw the figures around.

Obviously spending sensible is all well and good, but we did that under Kenwright - what we're seeing here is nothing different whatsoever, and that's the issue. We have obvious holes in our squad, and we're either not filling them or leaving it ridiculously late to do so - I don't see why you view that as a positive as long as we stay in the black, because by my thinking that's what a club with no resources or ambition does.

It shows how desperate we are. Instead of Benteke, Giroud and Dembele at the start of the window. People are now advocating we go for Smith at QPR, Gestede and the lad at Cardiff. I can't wait for tomorrow to come to an end if I'm honest.

Just wait until 8pm tomorrow night then mate. Bret Angell, Stuart Barlow and Danny Cadamarteri will be the options being banded about.

Not ITK, just confident that the facts add up to this:
There will be a striker and a left sided defender, plus a couple of u23s at least. There is a £60m credit facility in place, so no last minute sell-to-buy type problems. In a strange way it is a positive that names have not been leaked as it means there is still a chance of two quality signings. Plan B deals for both positions have been agreed in principle though and sadly I feel we'll have to live with at least one of these tomorrow.
Going to bed now - hopefully we'll all sleep better tomorrow night though.

Unless that facility was used in the purchase of Sigurdsson?

Ffs it's 2017 we got between 75-100 mill for one player and people still give a [Poor language removed] about net spend, WHO CARES!?!?!!!!

We have signed a quality keeper who could do us for almost two decades
We improved our cb options
We improved our midfield options
We massively improved our creativity
We shipped out dead weight and improved quality in depth of squad
The only place that we are worse off is getting a top striker to play up top with Rooney

And yet people still talk about net [Poor language removed] spend all day every day!
