Thought he had a horrible game on Saturday

Alright, his first match back in a while so perhaps needs to be cut some slack, but I'll be keeping a critical eye on him for the rest of the season

He had a horrible game yet made some outstanding saves.

His only real cock-up was the Lookman chance.

Looked nervy at times but their defence was abysmal. We'd have had 5 or 6 if not for him.

Add to that, he'd only just returned from injury and therefore would still be rebuilding a relationship with his makeshift, woeful defence.

Yeh I see your point.

He was excellent prior to his injury though, so one game back isn't really enough to judge - either way.

I honestly think we'll be moving for Forster or Schmeichel come summer though.

This season Robles has been superior to both, at the age he's at now both schmeichel and forster where inferior as well, poor choice if we went for them

Schmeichel and Forster wear Joel pyjamas. Schmeichel is no more than a decent mid table standard goalie, and Forster can't catch the ball. Joels form is currently head and shoulders above these no marks.

Hmmmm, he made a couple of good saves but the Lookman one wasn't the only shot he fumbled. He also seemed to be generally very nervy. Put another way, it reminded me of the very worst days of the end of Tim Howard's tenure here

Having said that, it would be very harsh to judge him on one poor game. He's had plenty of good ones. I see it as a very small note of caution and just something to keep an eye on.

Also think it's actually easier in many ways for goalkeepers at struggling teams to stand out as they have so much work to do relative to the better teams. It's why keepers like Marshall etc are touted as great signings one minute then go completely off the radar after that. Also why I've never quite bought into the Tom Heaton stuff. Think it's early days yet to decide where Pickford will end up on that score.

Question is will he at the same age be far superior mate.

I don't know, but let's not forget that Russell Griffiths is two years younger than even Pickford and is gradually gaining more and more experience

Is it worth spending a wedge on Pickford when Griffiths could still develop into a good keeper and Robles is doing a good job between the sticks at this particular moment?

Pickford could just be having a good season, as could Robles

For me, if we're going to spend money on a keeper it has to be one of the top ones, other than that calibre of keeper I see no reason to spend money in that area while Robles is still doing well and we have a 20 year old keeper already on the books who could still surpass the 22 year old Sunderland have

Forster and Schmeichel are both better than Joel, I'd say.

Joel is doing brilliantly at the moment though and the no.1 position is his to lose for the time being.

I'd say Forster is better than Robles, but I think Robles is at very least on par with Kasper Schmeichel, if not better than him

I certainly wouldn't spend decent money on Schmeichel to replace Robles, as I don't think it'd be worth the money, although I would in the case of Forster. I've rated Forster for quite a while now
