No idea if he's any good and the only way we'll beat a club like Arsenal is by offering a large wage premium.
It's been pretty clear since the end of last summer that we're not doing that.

I actually beleive, on a few occasions at least, we have offered more cash than others, but players of a certain profile would rather go elsewhere.

(12 May 2017) Sandro won't happen unfortunately. Why would he leave sunny Spain for rainy Merseyside with the language barrier and knowing no one for a team that hasn't won a trophy in his lifetime?
Only one answer: £££ but we won't offer the massive wage premium necessary so he'll use our interest to leverage a better wage offer from a Spanish side then sign for them.

Why would he hire a director of football when he can use ours for free?

That can only be a good thing. I think. I'm not sure actually. It's good that we set our sights high. But bad if we can't actually achieve those expectations.
