Lots of deals "complete" post-July 1 because contracts expire and deals can begin being registered with the needed bodies but it's very, very easy to agree and sign everything off before that point.

Hence why we've announced Lossl and Madrid have signed Hazard, Jovic, and Rodrygo.

....thought Lossl was a domestic deal, which could be complete when our window opened on 15th May. Apologies if I have that wrong.

There will be the odd deal, but things ramp up when the windows open.

The domino effect is also a factor, teams will want to bring in replacements for players they are selling.

Pre-contract announcement. Not a transfer. He can't be registered by Everton until the 'window' opens, but there's nothing to stop all parties agreeing terms and making a declaration of it.

Just get a move on eggs. We need a striker, winger, centre mid, centre back and right back and you’re messing about providing daily updates. Get your priorities right and get the signings sorted.

Just the 177 deals done so far.

...domestic deals within England have been fine since mid-May, I imagine some of them are included along with free transfers and players released from contracts.

Nobody is disputing deals can happen, Connor, but i expect things will ramp up now the international window is open and Premiership clubs can complete the registration of players from abroad. I expect things will get very busy after the Spain/German/Italian windows open in early July.

A full pre season is important , it obviously allows the buying club to manage the fitness levels of their players but more importantly having your players training together each day and understanding how the manager wants the team to play and building an understanding with the players around you is easier over a longer period.
On top of all this you have the difficulties about moving to a new city, finding some place to live, maybe finding schools for children... it is better if all of that can be sorted during a slack period.
I'm absolutely flabbergasted that this needed explaining.

Interesting link. Real are really going for it. I expect them to be back up at the business end of the CL after those incomings.

edit: realise that the link was actually in the quote from @Connor - d'oh!

Im not sure if it's actually anything to do with waiting for windows to open as deals can still be initiated (as you said) i think it's probably more to do with teams waiting to see if their potential targets come back from these internationals with injuries or not, and if so are they serious ones that they need to look elsewhere.
