Already settled and up to speed too

100% mate plus I think it shows you the maturity of the fella. Would have been very easy to say "right I've got my football career back on track so I'll just drop down a slight level from Barca and go to a CL club"

Hopefully we've made an impression where he believes he csn come here and make a difference because that's what we need, players who can make a difference on the pitch. Get enough of them gelling together and we won't be far off where we need to be.

I'd prefer someone with potential like Lookman or Onyekuru. Or to sign someone new and shift Richarlison back left if necessary.

Bolasie was terrible after his knee injury but it is fun to point out that his first season pre-injury he had the exact same goals and assists as Bernard did for all of last year and he got hurt in early December.
Well, lets not pretend like the knock on Bolasie was that it was his first season in the league, and he put up 1 goal and 4 assists. When Bernard has had 5 seasons in the league and also only has 10 total goals, then we can pretend its in the same stratosphere even ignoring his defensive contribution and workrate.

So with the Gomes signing if that goes through, we will have 10 of the 11 players back who were so good the last 1/3rd of the season. On paper if we keep that core intact, we were playing at a top 4 rate and just need more time under Silva. Once we add a CB of Zoumas quality, anyone else we add is just pure gravy.

Or so thats what the optimistic side of me would like to think.

Kinda my take on it as well mate. Its difficult not to be a bit optimistic when we will have 3 ex Barcelona players starting, (at a cost of circa £75m), plus 2 Brazilians, one who starts for the International side, and one who did.

You aren't going to want to hear this but Bernard did have 5 seasons and Ukraine and only managed 14. It isn't like he has shown at some point a prolific streak.

The workrate is great but he's playing wing not defensive midfield. We need more unless we want to go back to having Big Sam football.

Need more than them two to challenge but it’s an excellent start.

What about for regular game time in the Premier League? he's about fourth choice at Juve, Lukaku left a League contending Chelsea to join us before moving on, kean has the same agent as Rom (and Brands) so he might sell the idea to him, moving to us and then possibly on to another club in 3-4 years time will make both of them a stack of money.

Good point. Who could see neves going to wolves whilst they were in the championship? Or moutinho signing for them last season? An influential agent is very important, just as is a great director of football and manager who can sell a club to a player.
