The Danish lad would make our funds stretch a bit further. Also don't be surprised if we use the loan market too. Perhaps with Malcolm from Barca. Reckon Brands has formed a decent working relationship with them over the last 12 months.

Yes I agree with all of that. I see Skov as more of a backup player who we could bring in cheaply and move on for more money if needed (similar to Sosa). A section of players that present such good value it's too good to turn down. It will be interesting if we really go down this route.

Malcolm would be an ideal loan for me, but somebody made a really good point the other day about why a loan wouldn't work but can't remember what it was.

To be honest, shopping in their dustbin makes a lot of sense to me. They are going through players at a rate of knots and lots of good players are being turned away (as we saw this summer) and seem to be losing site of what they were good at. So in that sense, Malcolm's failure should be viewed in that context.

So on that basis should we be signing Zouma or Umtiti?. Assuming we have a chance with either of course.
The story with Umtiti that he’s needed an operation for months but has avoided it against Barca’s wishes and he’s never fully recovered from it. So despite how great he is that seems quite a big risk.

Zouma’s probably the safer, less expensive bet, fits in with the squad, enjoyed his football here and if he continues his improvement that he shown here then he could easily become one of the best centre backs in the league imo.

Deal to take De Ligt to Juve is being widely reported to be all but done.

Do you think we should be spending £40m on a player who's an injury concern?. Even so, if he is as good as you say, and I'm not doubting it, why would he come to us?

He is not Darren Anderton level of sicknote, he had an unlucky season, that’s all. 40m is cheap for such quality if you consider kouma quoted at 30m. Would he come? Nobody knows, but people are saying the same before Digne arrives. One side is looking to sell, we are looking for a commanding centerback, things might happen out of nowhere, just like how Gomes crept into the equation out of nothing in the midst of Digne transfer.

Onyekuru linked with Leverkusen, 18m Euro, decent fee, if he’s not getting a work permit it could be time to move him on, that fee plus 20m for Lookman and maybe 10m for Walcott would pay for Neres and possibly Malcolm on loan, we’d have two left footed wingers and two right footed, all Brazilian), get rid of all the others (Miralles, Bolassie), if we have injuries we can call up a youngster like Anthony Gordon.

I hope there are 7 zero's in the discussions.

Same. Dunno, it might be nothing, but when Spurs sold Bale and someone else to RM, they expected some favours. Didnt happen as far as I can tell, so maybe a load of bull. But you never know in the murky world of football.

Either way, better to have a decent relationship than otherwise.

If we get Zouma, a RB and a CF, we’d be looking fairly strong for next season. Would like another winger and central midfielder, but I suppose we can’t have it all!
Have you been on the ale mate? Good to see you more positive again.

I want a winger and another CM too. Defo. I think Marco certainly wants the winger too, but I think the midfielder will depend on whether we can offload Schneids. If not, the Schneids that showed up at the end of he season can still do a job.

Lots of stories that Barca want Neymar back and will swap a player (couthinho or Dembele) plus cash for Neymar, so are trying to raise funds for that
Consistently injured. Injury-free he’s one of the best CBs in the world imo.
They bought another French CB recently (they have enormous depth in that position) and I don't think he has settled. They are also going through a bit of an odd phase at the moment and making some questionable decisions and at times seem a bit desperate to sell decent players to fund huge stars. They want Greizman and Neymar this summer so lots has to be brought back in and if someone would give them 30+ for Umtiti it's good business. If we sold Keane I would love him.

Well if the injuries are not a concern and he really is just surplus to requirements at Barca, then fair enough. If he's that good I'd still question whether he'd come here, but he wouldn't exactly be short of familiar faces would he.

£18m wouldn't be good imo, he could well be a proper superstar, if he doesn't get a work permit we loan him again and revisit in a year.

Please don’t take this the wrong way because I’m just asking an honest question based on what you’ve said, but do you honestly not know who he is? He’s genuinely like a star. He was a key member of the France team that won the World Cup. We won’t get him, but if we did it would send shockwaves round the football world. It would be a hell of a statement.
