The Bolasie revisionism has started lol
It isn't really revisionism. He was pretty good for us before he got hurt but most people decided he was terrible because we overpaid for him. Once he got hurt he was never the same and the last 6 months here he was truly horrendous. As Mikey pointed out you can go back and look at the forum. There were reasonable people who didn't go mad at his price tag saying that he was doing alright. I reckon he would've hit 10 assists that year if he didn't get hurt. Would you bet on anybody on the team now to do that next year? Maybe Sigurdsson or Digne?

I largely agree with your opinion on Bolasie. But no way was Bolasie ever more effective than Bernard, you are decidedly on your own on that one.

Sorry mate, even pre injury he was generally gash and will go down in the clubs history as one of our worst ever signings.

However, I respect your opinion, even it is wrong ;)

It depends on what you define effective as but if you define it like I do as actively and somewhat directly contributing to goals there is no real contest between Bolasie pre-injury and Bernard last year. I'm not going to pretend that Bernard doesn't offer a lot of other things that Bolasie never did but my contention has been and still is that those things are the easier aspects of the job and I'll take the guy who does the harder work of getting the ball into the net first.

Hes not wrong tho.

Bolaise pre-injury had found some form, overall he was terrible, but for me he had started to improve.

Im sure it was a purple patch, his whole career highlights how terrible he is, but it makes me sad when people dismiss the fact that he was looking reasonably dangerous for a few fleeting weeks.

Love a Marco cello. What was the game he went berserk and Dunc nearly took him out?

Maybe this is misguided but I think for the first time in his career Bolasie played in a team that actually wanted him to do more than clown around on the ball and even though he still did that he actually figured out how to contribute to winning matches for a bit there.

It's all speculation though because he was truly finished off by the knee injury. It's a tough life when so much of your game is your pace.
