Lookman, Gueye, besic and McCarthy all linked with moves and could bring £70m in, hopefully we’ll find a taker for Tosun as well for another £10m. Couple of million for Pennington. Unsure about Schneiderlen.

Then it’ll just be mirallas, bolasie and niasse to worry about. Loan moves with us paying the majority of the wages is likely.

All of that’ll give us a decent whack to spend.

If that all came off, we could do some decent work with those proceeds. And it's not as if we are flat broke either, so there should be some funds on top. Moshiri has spoken about sustainability though and this is the route to it.

All the talk has been about RB/CB/RM/CM and 2 F. Clearly we won't sign that many on top of the business already done but I think we could get 4 in. We must get at least one F, and Silva has been very clear about cover for Seamus, signing Zouma or A.N.Other, and replacing Gueye.

Lots of intriguing possibilities to ponder. The biggest decision is who to sign up front and how much to spend on it, for a permanent we are going to have to spend north of £40m to get anyone half decent.

It's very desirable to shift out as many of the deadwood as possible. But not so when bringing players in. Too much inward churn brings instability and needing six months for things to bed down, at a time Silva needs to demonstrate he can achieve stability and consistency.

I guess you can discount Gomes as he is already assimilated, and Lossl is just a benchwarmer but on top of Delph I wouldn't necessarily advocate getting anymore than 4 others in.

Another consideration is use of the loan market which would also provide flexibility with financial regulations. Whilst I don't agree with the Moise Kean type deal, I think it may appeal to them in terms of offsetting risk as getting this signing wrong would be a huge blow.

I'm hoping for another 4 depending on outgoings, but we could see 3 permanent + 2 loans.

How do you work that out Matty my good mate?

Im not saying we put everything on hold for 2 years, we can improve the squad, like we did last summer, like we will this summer.

I was just talking about us not having to shift about 20 players every summer.

Well ye we won’t have to shift as much as we do now but I don’t want to fall behind my friend!
