The ability of a creative midfielder absolutely hinges on their goals and assists.

Just as the ability of a striker generally hinges on how many goals they score.

I bet Modric had completely average goal and assist stats throughout his entire career yet is the finest creative mid of his generation and a ballon dor winner.

We did the stats game once before, Klaassen had x goals x assists, Siggurdson the same, also Rooney would bring x amount, add them all up and we’d get a champions league number of goals and assists. Except they couldn’t pass a ball to each other and we were heading down instead.

Put a decent striker in that team, let Bernard get a whole season fully fit, he takes a few more set pieces, then his goals and assists would be higher if that’s what’s needed to convince some luddites that he’s better than Albrighton of all people.

yikes, bambi Lewins going to suffer from the lingard syndrome isn't he and still be considered a young prospect late into his 20's

He's only 22 mate, I think we can still class that as "young"

Dave has called him a "pudding" and "trash" in the past week

I know you have a pop at him as well, but with you I generally think it's you having a bit of the craic about it, so I don't see it the same way

Dave has used DCL as a kicking bag for about a year now, either as bait to wind people up or to push his other agendas

I'm sorry, but I don't think it's right. I'm not expecting people to agree with me, but it's just how I feel

Like I've already said, I'm not arsed about him having a go at the older players, even the likes of Baines. Baines is in his 30's, has made his money and has had a solid Premier League career. DCL is still a comparative kid giving his all for the club. There's definitely a difference in the psychology between skewering one and the other in my eyes

Anyway, we're bogging the thread down, but I felt I had to speak up. Again, I expect I'll possibly be an island unto myself on this one, but I've said my piece anyway and we can leave it at that

Couldnt have put it better myself mate

I can't wait till the window shuts, Brands has smashed it for us, common sense has prevailed and all the moaners suddenly turn into 'I told you so's

Why is that so hard to believe? There is a compelling case that he's worse than all three of Leicesters English wingers.

Harvey Barnes G/A every 336 minutes
Marc Albrighton G/A every 399 minutes
Demarai Gray G/A every 406 minutes

Bernard got a goal or assist every 532 minutes.

There's more to a game of football than personal stats for G & A, you can't stat metrics about the workrate and the space he creates for others, how he enables Digne to be the threat he is. Just crazy to hold a player to account on two stats while simply ignoring his overall contribution.

calling a player trash on a football forum isn't bullying pal, it's an opinion

Oh look, another stats beaut that has probably been to goodison about 3 times in his life.

To be fair mate, although i agree with you on giving young players a chance. Its not like DCL is reading the forum is it? People are entitled to their opinion and its not like hes stalking DCL around the streets abusing him to his face

On it's own, that's of course correct

Targeting him unmercifully for an entire year to an unreasonable amount in order to push other agendas you might have against the Director of Football and general ownership of the club might be though...

Again, this isn't the thread for this

@ me in the DCL thread or let's move on
