You've said something about Sig being better now but in response to a post re: who is better in our starting line ups, you've said:

OK, I was doing a lineup of who which players I would prefer us to have as a club. Sigurdsson might be slightly better right now but to take him over Maddison is short term thinking at it's finest. A bit like keeping Walcott over Lookman.

I can't see how it is in any way a stretch to say Maddison will be better than Sigurdsson over the next 3 years given their respective ages. His value now is probably double that of Sigurdssons and his return is about the same.

Albrighton is close to 30 isn't he? We already have Theo Walcott whose a winger in that age bracket. Wouldn't it make more sense to go for someone younger? (I say that as someone who said he wouldn't mind us signing a 28 year old James Forrest like. Not my best shout)

So why would you have Schmeichel over Pickford then? He's 7 1/2 years older. At least try to be consistent in your wumming, if you contradict yourself in your own posts it's no fun at all.

Really don't get the Schmeichel over Pickford shouts at all to be honest

Schmeichel is prone to his fair share of mistakes. He's not awful or anything, but I'd much rather have Pickford

The arse in for Kean apparently. I am not sure how they even afford him or need him. Is it a tactic from his agent to leak this?

It's not inconsisent, nor is it wumming. There is no contradiction whatsoever.

GK's last longer at the top than outfield players. GK's generally reach their peak as they hit 30 and he has at least 5 years left at the highest level. Pickford made 4 errors leading to goals last season. Only Begovic and Leno made more. Schmichael made 1.

Schmichael is the better goalkeeper.

Sigurdsson on the other hand may have 3 seasons at his best. Maddison has 10, and their output isn't too dissimilar. Sigurdsson is marginally better now but the likelihood is he won't be in 12 months.

Modric doesn't play where Bernard does. He doesn't (and didn't) tend to operate in the final third as Bernard does.

You're absolutely right, there is more to a players game than stats, but there is no justification for Bernard starting basically every game and having such a poor return.

Especially when you consider that Hazard, Salah, Sterling, Mane, Sane, Rashford, King, Zaha, Fraser, Deulofeu, Jota, Anderson, Martial, Mahrez, Lucas, Mkhitaryan, Townsend, Redmond, Antonio, Ritchie, Willian, Iwobi, Gudmundsson, Babel, McNeil, Knockaert, Sessegnon, Perreyra, Snodgrass, Schurrle, Lingard, Lamela, Gros and March all got better returns.

That's 34 players in comparable positions across the league last season who achieved better numbers. Now you may argue that Hazard, Salah, Sterling, Mane, Sane, Rashford, Martial, Mahrez, Lucas, Mkhitaryan, Willian, Iwobi, Lingard and Lamela play with better strikers and therefore should have better numbers. Let's accept that is a fair argument.....

So what is the excuse for King, Zaha, Fraser, Deulofeu, Jota, Anderson, Townsend, Redmond, Antonio, Ritchie, Gudmundsson, Babel, McNeil, Knockaert, Sessegnon, Perreyra, Snodgrass, Schurrle, Gros and March all having better returns? Many of whom only had a third of the playing time that Bernard got last season.

How many of those wingers, are pretty much a foil for the full back to attack because that's what Bernard does, his movement, work and clever play elevates Dignes game to a new level, our fullback was one of the most creative in the league, all those you mention are the main creators in their sides.
