Ross played quite a lot as CM for Chelsea and didn't do too bad

He's terrible defensively. He'd be redundant to Gomes. All he wants to do is sit back and be a playmaker. That would be an AWFUL midfield. I know we want someone that is more creative than Gana, but they have to at least be above average defensively.

I really can't see us getting a defensive mid as good as Gana mate, and the ones better than him aren't going to come to Everton

We either get in a player in the same position who isn't as good or we rip things up and go in a different direction with it

That's how I see it anyway. There might be a good young defensive mid out there who could eventually develop into being as good a player as Gana was in that position, but that's going to take time and we really need to hit the ground running this season. Ross can play CM, is a creative output and could keep us ticking over for a season whilst we bed in the Gana replacement

Kante wasn't really playing that role last season. I watched quite a lot of their Europa campaign (Just because I wanted to see how Ross was getting on)
