Anyone else cringe a little bit with all the 'we need a striker' shouts post-match? Yes, it's obvious we need reinforcements up front. But 1) we are supposed to be a fanbase that knows its football; and it's clear the biggest issues by a distance are about cohesion in the middle of the pitch and our general build up play even in cases where DCL has done what is required. And 2) it's extremely harsh to implicitly lay the blame of today's performances (and many of last season's) at the feet of DCL!
Unfortunately the mob must have its pantomime villain, picking up the pitchfork is easier than applying thought to the problem.

No pitchforks for DCL. He's a good lad and a decent player. He just doesn't score enough to be the no.1 centre forward for everton. If we don't sign a goalscorer then there is no hope for improvement this season.

He played 17 games on the left wing scoring 6 and assisting 6. He did play 15 games as a striker though scoring 2 goals and getting 4 assists.

But he did play more games as a left winger so you are wrong there unfortunately.

Also using zaha playing as a striker in a Roy hodgson palace side is a bit silly. Seeing as he will be asked to have his back to goal and hold up the ball by having it knocked long to him. Which if you haven't seen him play is not playing to zaha's strengths.

The proof of this is when he played as a left winger he was directly involved in a goal 12 times in 17 matches. Right winger 1 goal in 2 games and second striker 1 goal in 2 games.

I seen him about 5 games last year and he was a striker and scored in none of them.

But it's not even just that though is it (despite being correct). He's not got brilliant movement, he's not a brilliant linking striker, he's not strong enough to regularly bully opposition defenders, he's not got that snide in him to win fouls or disrupt the game.

He does a lot average, but his finishing is horrendous.

There is not one centre back in the premier that would be worried about playing against Dom.

I heard he single handedly won us a load of games at the end of last season by winning the running though.

Id be worried playing against Dom. Id be worried he might get a lucky bounce and score against me, and Id be humiliated for eternity. The likelihood of him scoring might be low but the consequences to the career of a CB would be huge.

It’s all opinions and I disagree with your assessment of the player, apart from his finishing , which does have to improve and quickly. I think it will improve however as he gains experience his composure in front of goal will improve.
One thing about these preseason games though is that we have been woeful in attack and produced few clear cut chances .
I doubt any striker would profit in this team at the moment.
