Doucoure and Gbamin makes little sense to me unless Gbamin is somehow being thought of as a centre-half.

Gbamin is a defensive mid, Doucoure is a box to box. That makes perfect sense. Gomes can sit back as more of a deeper lying 10 and we'd have more of a true 4-3-3.

If the Doucouré links are genuine then Schneiderlin and McCarthy are deffo off. May also suggest that Sigurdsson’s spot isn’t guaranteed and Silva wants a midfield 3.

To be fair Marco’s head is properly rattled from watching our midfield’s inability to break into a sprint or keep the ball for more than 10 seconds over our entire preseason. Reluctant to read to much into preseason matches but Gomes and Sigurdsson really have looked massively off the pace imo.

If true, maybe we are willing to give Gmblammo a go at CB?
