Ive just been going through his stats Lou to try and convince myself that he would be worth 80m and the best I've come up with is he wins 74% of Palace throw ins and also 55% of their corners

As you know Lou, I've made those stats up because I cba finding these type of things but it's what I'm gonna believe just in case we do go and splurge 80m on him

The point I was making is we could have signed him already and had a gentleman’s agreement with Palace not to play him (which isn’t allowed), and could have easily explained his absence as him still being signed too late to figure on top of him literally only just returning to training on Monday after an extended break.

We certainly wouldn’t need to wait until late on Thursday to announce him just to have an excuse for him not to play Saturday.

If there is any lesson to be learned its easier and cheaper to deal with clubs on the continent.

Players with PL experience have a premium but even on top of that trying to deal with clubs like Palace & Watford only encourages them to set the bar so high the value starts to disappear from the transfer.

I still hope we can pull some irons out of the fire by Thursday rather than get caught in a spiral of refused offers with clubs who don't want to sell to us.

If we do get Zaha it will be on the final day so he won’t be in the squad to face them at there place on the Saturday

If we sign him he will Be able to play Saturday regardless.
