I suspect that Silva wanted Doucoure, Zaha and of course Zouma and Gomes.
These were the names that Silva would have put forward for purchasing.
Iwobi probably a next down the list after Zaha.
The players we have managed to bring in - with the exception of Delph - all seem like Brands buys.

Tbf I think we were very unlucky with the CB situation. Don’t think we’d have been in for Zouma for so long if it wasn’t possible. Between, Chelsea’s ban, rudiger being injured and Luiz lashing in a last minute request it made it impossible for us to even loan Tomori never mind sign Zouma.

Excellent point. You can really see why Donny Van De Beek and Frenkie De Jong would have been gagging to go to Ronald Koeman's Everton aged 20 with a first team spot at Ajax going begging, can't you?

Frankie was stuck in jong Ajax. Until the change of manager he was in limbo.

Bezig Donny would of left in my opinion also, like Bazoer did few years before too early.

De Jong made 22 appearances at Ajax the year after Klassen left, Donny 34 and that was his second year of regular first team football. They've never been short of suitors either, but the Ajax kids always seem to have a decent loyalty to the club until they get their big move. largely because when established players leave, they promote the youth.

Didn’t see that we’d signed Iwobi at the time.

We’ve had a decent window I think but the nature of missing out on a quality player like Zaha was deflating. Plus a CB was key and we failed to get one over the line.

Like I say a good window just a disappointing end to it.

The cb situ is annoying & tbh could be an issue if injuries/suspensions/kids don’t step up happens, but imo we dodged an Argentinian bullet on TDD there. On the plus side if Gibson is the real deal we will all know it by January I believe. Could be a blessing in disguise, but ultimately I feel that’s a brands/silva fail not to recruit there.

I never wanted Zaha for the money once the only bid we made was rejected... but the persistent rumours wa a massive polarising factor in our fan base.

Having actually looked at Iwobi stats and dreaded highlight reel & he could give us so much variety in that front 3/4... if he’s guff at shooting then he should lay it off instead, and by the look of stats he does that anyway. Interesting that we were in for both Zaha & Iwobi.

I hate TDD anyway, peoples heads fall off lol

Ajax lose young talents before they make a first team debut all the time. Or before they establish themselves as first team players.

Err... and what's the basis of this comment? we're told constantly that the signings are a joint venture between the two. Sounds like you're trying to assign ultimate responsibility of the new signings squarely on Brands for some reason.. as if Silva hasn't got any the players he actually wanted?

Basis? Just a feeling. Based
on their roles.

Mitch Bakker, joined PSG after a great season in the Ajax youth setup. You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.

No, silly me. Watching the Eredivisie every weekend and forgetting about Mitchel Bakker and his mighty 500k move to PSG. Seriously, Ajax's top talent from the u19s and Jong Ajax normally play a few years in the shop window before getting sold. We can agree to disagree, but I don't know why you need to reach for abuse every time somebody says something you don't like.
