Dominic Solanke with 21 appearances and 1 goal got bought for 17m, Hope exists.

Young, English striker on relatively small wages who’s shown he has decent potential (albeit probably not 17m worth) and who’ll be playing in a system alongside another striker. It’s understandable why he’d attract some suitors while our players who are around 30, aren’t going to develop and are on the biggest contract they’re ever going to get despite their best days being long behind them are harder to shift.

Also Solanke was pushing for a move because he needs game time at this point in his career while our players are probably a bit happier to not go forcing their way out whilst they’re earning wages that they aren’t going to get if they get a transfer out of here.

Also applies to Europa League qualification, which is presumably a club aim. Plus, compliance is measured against the previous three seasons, so there will be lag.

But purely from a business point of view it’s madness to keep adding to the wage bill when we have so many awful players on huge wages giving the team literally nothing.

To me anyway. Get these guys gone then we’ll be fine.

Yeah probably, young, English, not on massive wages, quick, strong and has scored some goals at this level - wouldn’t be surprised if clubs came in for him around that price if we decided we wanted to sell

I’d love it if we enforced all our contracts to be a base wage and then just a ton of achievable bonuses on top of it. That would be one way of surviving another situation like this.

Indeed. But not sure how many actual good players we’d attract with a policy like that!
