Maybe the local rag was mixing them up. Why would Man U want Onana, he is not going to replace Casemiro in the team and they are hardly going to spend big money on a bench warmer when they are reported to be working under a very strict and small (for Man U) transfer budget

McTominay and Fred both are possibly going so getting Onana isnt out of realms of possibility

It was reported that Gnonto doesn't have a release clause which will probably mean this will rumble on for quite a while. If, as reported, both Everton and Villa are interested I am guessing that Leeds will be holding out to see who will offer the best deal. If he ends up going to either Villa or Everton I think he would be an excellent signing. The kid looks like he has huge potential and at 19 his value is surely going to increase. There is a lot of talk that Leeds value him at 40m tho

Dont think either club will go that high would be shocked if over 25, leeds still have to sell players alot have it in contract that they can move on loan.

I suspect it would be Gnonto or Toure, not both.

Would like think it would be both or atleast a winger and a cf. just wouldnt make sense if we spent money on a winger in gnoto if we did not have enough left over for a cf

Sick of rumours.
Every single summer and January we get linked with so many players and we always end up disappointed.
Zaha was on his way in 2019 but we ended up with Iwobi.
So many years and this summer is exactly the same, only this year I have no idea who to believe on the financial situation. One minute I read we have no money, the next we're linked with a £40m striker.

Madness.

If we get Gnonto and Rodrigo - that would be good business.
And then we need reinforcement at the back.

No rumours for defenders at the moment though.

The more concrete links don't demonstrate much prep work done in the European / Global market.

Have to see what happens but doing the bulk of business in the home market is generally more expensive all round on a like for like basis.

A good transfer strategy is flexible and varied with regards to fees paid, wages, ages of players, origin etc.

With money tighter than ever they really have to make every £ count, and spread it as wide as possible.

Our best outfield player last season (IMO) was Dwight McNeil - a left winger.

So our first actual money signing this summer now looks to be a left winger in Gnonto.

Utter genius to start strengthening our stronger areas first with a limited budget.

Expect we'll sign De Gea next on a massive wage and then be done for the summer.

Firstly, I sincerely doubt that we will sign Gnonto. Secondly, unlike McNeil, Gnonto is capable of using both feet. He would do fine on the right hand side and can play on the left if McNeil is out of form/injured, he could also play behind the striker.

He's more than versatile enough.

I agree, I can't see him going for that amount. However, there is just something about him I really like, I can't exactly explain what it is but I just think he is going to be a star in the future. I would love to sign him

The only name that I've seen mentioned by strong English journos over here was Summerville and that was McGrath and Percy.
