But if in a few seasons Brighton are still a competent top half club qualifying for Europe and going deep into cup competitions and we’re in the Championship, what will you say then? Your ambitions for Everton just aren’t realistic, we haven’t been the club you think we are since a 4 year period in the 80s. That’s the fault of ourselves and how incompetent we are, not some evil conspiracy by the globalist reds, or refs, or injuries as well.

No one is saying they’re going to establish themselves as a Champions League club and win the league but they’re in a damn site better place than we have been for the best part of a decade now. And they started in League 1 and have accelerated past us as we just continue to get worse and worse. I’m really not sure how you can argue our current model is going to work out better for us in the long run.

I don’t even know what you’re arguing any more. I’ve already said I’ll say I’m wrong if they’re qualifying for the CL and winning trophies. If they’re not then quite frankly they’re just the same as everyone else. My ambitions for Everton are to be number 1, doesn’t matter if they’re realistic at this current time, the ambition shouldn’t change, the club should always be working towards that not working to be the 6th best team of the team with the best balance sheet or best net spend.

Who mentioned a globalist conspiracy by Liverpool or referees? Of course we’ve been incompetent recently no one is denying this but I don’t know how you also can’t see that players picking up ACL injuries and snapped limbs every season doesn’t help a football team.

I really struggle with how you just can’t seem to understand that these things aren’t mutually exclusive. Everton can have awful recruitment but also have been badly impacted by terrible injuries, or managerial instability etc. I can say that another team hasn’t been as good as other people might think they’ve been and it doesn’t mean I think Everton have done better than them or it improves Everton’s performance at all. I genuinely don’t know why you can’t grasp this.

The glass ceiling isn’t put in place by the club adopting the model you’re railing against here. The ceiling has been created by factors outside the club’s control. It’s up to them to decide to live in this world or not. But the ceiling isn’t going anywhere.

Well that I agree with, the ceiling isn’t going anywhere but Brighton aren’t breaking though it doing what they do now.

Perhaps Newcastle with their unlimited funds keeping their good players for longer than 2 seasons and continuing to just invest cash on the back of inflated sponsorship deals will give teams the blueprint of what to do.

It’s just not reality to say Everton can’t follow anything that isn’t winning buckets of trophies

It’s funny because if I said that Everton should get Moyes back and follow what he did back then a lot of fans would say they wouldn’t want that. Yet when Brighton achieve a 6th place finish and a cup semi final suddenly it’s the model everyone should be following?

Selling your best players every season and turning over large parts of your team doesn’t work in the long run, it never has. If Brighton have found a competitive edge that has eluded every single team in football that I’ve ever seen who get getter with familiarity consistency and gradual improvement then great, i’m sure we’ll soon start seeing Pep and Klopp selling their stats after one or two seasons for the benefit of a completely new team every year.
