Good players too. If it was us, we'd only spunk it on absolute rubbish, even if wr had money.

Plus their new "fancy" manager. If they can survive their poor opening fixtures, they'll be safely mid-table I reckon.

It’s a glass ceiling and you know it is. ‘Please can we have fifth place now please rather than ever being a serious club ever again’. They might have a few seasons in Europe, so what, wasn’t that long ago we were there under Martinez and again under Koeman and many times before that under Moyes.

What are they doing that Moyes didn’t manage? They’ve had one European qualification. Moyes did that without touting the club out across Europe as a training academy for the rich as well.

Just because Everton screwed up our first chance under Moshiri of breaking into the elite with billionaire investment doesn’t mean we should remodel ourselves as Brighton just so we can get some favourable media, a pleasing net spend, and a few 6th places.

Everton should be aiming to be the best club in the country, fans like you might laugh at it and revel in our current demise but we are not and never will be an intentional feeder club for top teams on an annual basis. That’s what Brighton are and every team in Europe knows it. Whichever star might perform for them in Europe next season is gone the window after, so is De Zerbi if he backs up last season. Every person connected to the club knows that and all their fans watching do as well.
The glass ceiling isn’t put in place by the club adopting the model you’re railing against here. The ceiling has been created by factors outside the club’s control. It’s up to them to decide to live in this world or not. But the ceiling isn’t going anywhere.

Them days are long gone especially with rules on when info can be released.

Clubs pretty much dictate to journalists now.

But even if a journalist has an embargo to adhere to, they are not sharing that with their mate so he can tweet it or discuss it on a podcast ahead of the embargo.

However football has or hasn’t moved on, Building your entire operating model around immediately selling any good player you have and refreshing your team on an annual basis has never worked.

Everton can massively improve how it operates without having to copy everything Brighton do. The principle of buying low and selling high isn’t something they’ve invented. We’ve not even been that bad at it ourselves as seen with Gueye Digne Richarlison Gordon. Everton’s main problems have been with managerial instability, crippling injuries, buying players with poor attitude, and falling foul of financial regs whilst building a stadium. We can fix a lot of those without redesigning the ethos of our entire club to copy Brighton.

If in a few seasons Brighton are ensconced in the CL positions with numerous trophies in their cabinet I’ll quite happily come on here and say I was wrong. If they’re back in mid table with nothing to show for it then it’s not been sustainable has it.
It’s just not reality to say Everton can’t follow anything that isn’t winning buckets of trophies
