Summer transfer window 2023

If Ieanacho and Gnonto do indeed come along with Danjuma then we've addressed CF and wings as best we can, especially as Danjuma can play through the middle as well. That would mean we have the rest of the window to find a decent CB, ideally one who is a bit more athletic to better compliment Tarkowski.

Provided the 3 fellas mentioned above do sign, I think we could go into the opening games with a CB pair of Tarkowski and one of Branthwaite or Keane and be okay. But I'd certainly hope we've got a new CB in by the end of the window.
Can't underestimate the importance of this. Just someone to run alongside him, building his confidence in games:

"Lovely Hair, James"
"You're playing great today, James - keep it up!"
"You're a stylish guy, James - the lads are calling you 'new Tom Davies' "
"you're so handsome, James!

etc etc

Also better for us to do this covertly like this anyway. I mean look at us as fans, we genuinely don't even know if the club can spend money this summer, never mind if we will or not. I think other clubs sort of having the idea that we're skint, even if we're not, will be great for us. Means we wont' be held to ransom and overpay. All the fees so far this summer for our links, outside of Toure, have been reasonable.

We could be paying around £35m on Young, Danjuma, Iheanacho and Gnonto for example, that's less than we paid for Iwobi ffs. Spend another £15m-£30m on a CB, CM and backup keeper if we need them and we'll have massively balanced and improved the squad for less than we got for selling Kean and Gordon.
Yeah, exactly, if we're finally running a tight ship when it comes to info getting out it's a good thing. I know we all clamour for as much info as possible, hence we pay more attention to prominent guessers than we should, but the club should be keeping all their cards close to their chest to retain commercial advantage. I've been stressing to a lot of people on here panicking over what may or may not be the budget, that very very few people will know what it actually is. Fewer than claim to.

Can't get ahead of ourselves but IF we can get those players in for a reasonable outlay it puts us in a good negotiating position for the rest of the window. With those attacking options we'll have a squad heading into the first game that's at least got the quality and depth to compete, and if we're not desperate to buy (or to sell to buy) we won't get taken to the cleaners on other deals. Might even have the opportunity to pick off a bargain or two towards the end of the window.

Not sure if you're aware mate but the club isn't exactly brewstied at the moment. Probably stems from such brilliant ideas like why sell a player for a million when we can just let him go for nothing
Or the other option which is develop him until he becomes capable of starting Premier League games and saves us £30m on buying whichever crap journeyman our scouting team throws up

40m is a bit steep for the boy.

He wont be coming here mate.
Wasnt sure how much they wanted for him plus id guess he will have better offers than us.

Yeah he wont be coming here sadly, shame as i think he would be great for us.

I'd feel alot more comfortable if those 3 came in and an additional CB...think we should be looking at a mid table finish in my extremely humble opinion.

A secondary reason why Gnonto/Iheanacho would be good is if we replaced Dyche at some point with a manager like Potter they'd fit excellently too.
