Summer transfer window 2023

Paul Joyce’s article this morning told us the constraints on Thelwell when he pointed out Almeria were prepared to do a deal with a very low down payment but that most other clubs were not. EBT was likely not our first choice he was just the first one where we could find a workable deal. This is because cash raised so far has gone towards director compensation, stage payments on past transfers and operating/stadium cash flow.

So we either have to find people willing to pay real £ for Maupay, Gray, Holgate, Gbamin et al (bar Gray we will be lucky to get loans) or we are stuck looking at loans, frees or teams willing to sell for inflated fees in exchange for a low initial payment. There are always lots of teams competing in this pond.

I am not convinced Thelwell is the right guy with the right connections and experience to turn us around but anybody would be struggling trying to operate under such restrictions.

We should be blaming Moshiri and Kenwright, not Thelwell and Dyche IMO.
That's all fair enough. But it also reinforces the point of the importance to be clear with our targets, from the work and due diligence since Jan.

Very very clearly, we are using a scatter gun method and that's completely unacceptable.

As other posters have said, the forwards we have been linked with invariably are all different style players.

I give up on Everton transfers and news. At this point we don’t acquire the targets we should due to our DoF. We’re after terrible signings and at this point in time will be fighting for relegation this season.

Gnonto - no go
Toure - no go

As usual no plan B and will make panic buys again at the end of the window.

We should have had a CF lined up weeks ago.
Big Bird has got to go!!
That would make this all worthwhile, see you for more absolute guesswork in Jan

Its not clear, its complete and utter guesswork from (understandably) anxious fans

It really is clear mate.

We are now in week 8 of the transfer window.
it isn't, not in anyway does a single person on this site have the information to make anything resembling a detailed analysis of what is happening in the transfer market.

Its obvious we are working under huge restraints in very difficult circumstances, other than that it is panicked and frustrated guesswork.

The ‘scattergun’ comments have some validity but I think that is as likely to be a reflection of our financial constraints as any reflection on our DoF/scouting. We are limited to chasing options we can possibly afford. It is unlikely many are an ideal fit. We are in make do and mend territory with charity shop cast-offs not specifying and buying bespoke hand-made tailoring.

In fairness, even when we had money to spend, there was plenty of wet undees around.

At least there‘s a level of consistency to the bed wetting.

It is the Everton way.
