My massively controversial take is that if relatively inexpensive and done in conjunction with the Chermiti transfer to alleviate the pressure on him to be ready right away (and done in conjunction with the sale of Maupay) then Adams would be a reasonable signing. If the cost of the two was around what we’d have paid for El Bilal alone it is probably a more sensible use of the funds.

but it’s such short term thinking, plus there’s nothing to suggest Maupay is going, so you’re stuck with both of them

I have seen more than enough of Maguire, he peaked and is now very firmly on the decline. His recovery “powers” are basically fouls for any other team in the league barring the Premier league‘s chosen few clubs. I’d absolutely rather have Tarkowski than him.

Adams wouldn’t be my top choice at all but I’d definitely prefer him to some that we’ve been linked with. If it was basically a swap deal + like £5m of Adams for Holgate permanently and Sulemana on loan then I think that’d represent good value for us really all things considered.

I’d definitely prefer us going the Dia route though. If it was nobody else or Adams I’d take Adams.

I'd take nobody and just go with the Chermiti kid, DCL, keep Cannon and use our wide players. There is zero sense in spending actual money on a God-awful 27 year old that we won't be able to shift. He is literally the worst striker we've been linked with all Summer. It blows my mind what people are willing to accept.

IF we had no-one in by deadline day and took him on loan, that would be just about acceptable, but we should not make him our burden for the foreseeable, he is utter, utter

So, i've been mulling over the news and you know what, i think it would work.

play 4-4-2 with Che Adams (scottish international) and we could line up something like this:

so as you can see, its a modern 442 with overlapping and false 9's all over the shop. there will be pressing and spells of transition that will increase our xG and negate our xD

i appreciate some of you won't understand this as you prefer to buy a ticket and shout, but I'm sure brothers such as @TheBigIguana will understand my thought process.
