Summer transfer window 2023

Looked awful when I've seen him. Like a poor man's John Stones.

May have improved like.

But then thats why he'd be looked at over Maguire... someone better on the ball
I have no idea what he is like as a footballer, I don't know of him but if the requirement is to be better than Maguire that doesn't necessarily suggest he is any good.

Transfer window slams shut September 1st. We have 3 matches before that.

My question is, when do we think our next signing will happen (excluding Chermiti), and how much of a part will they play in those opening fixtures?

I think young will be the only one to start on opening day and maybe Danjuma off the bench. I don't expect Chermiti to receive any significant minutes until maybe late in the season and likely only due to someone being injured.

I anticipate making maybe 2 more signings right at the end of the window, missing out on any of the main targets. And I don't expect them to be ready to participate in matches until around the end of September.

Like last year, we are essentially playing our first 5-6 matches without the squad available to play being any stronger than the previous year. Not good for a team barely escaping relegation two years in a row.
at a minimum i would say we need 3 new players: another striker is a must, a winger is a must if/when Gray goes. And centre back is suddenly a bit light area. Same as central midfield unless we keep Dele / Onyango maybe. But also on the outgoing front we need to do at least 4-5 deals + youngsters on loan.
I sleep a bit more easy (and we all do i guess) if we get that more experienced striker in. That for me is a must with Dom (injuries) / Maupay (being crap). Another winger we will find a bit more easily at the end of the window and Dobbin might be an option off the bench.

Could be wrong but get the feeling we are waiting for the ground funding to be confirmed so we can spend a bit. The gnonto link is also a strange one as a few have said this may not go though till the very end of the window? Does this mean he has a clause after 1 year of his contract which I think is deadline day for 1st Sept.

Just saw that one. Sauce: the Mirror. Hopefully nonsense.
Sounds like nonsense to me. Why would United want a swap deal with Everton when they can get a bag of cash from West Ham. If they really want Onana they can just offer Everton cash which I would assume Everton and Dyche would prefer to a 35m/40m credit note to be spent on Maguire

Fed up with Newcastle buying all these players and getting away with it. On the plus side for us, Wolves losing their manager at this stage could plonk them down with us strugglers.

Hadn't heard about any potential clauses in his contract. I just figured we weren't willing (or able) to pay what Leeds want.
We absolutely need another winger and a decent backup striker. Whether we get that though is another question.

I think Wolves were already down with the strugglers, I think getting rid of JL now puts them with Luton and Blades as the favorite 3. Their only hope is if they can attract a manager that will accept no transfer budget and can work with what they have. I assume Potter will be up there in the list of candidates but after the disaster at Chelsea Wolves may be too high a risk for him. His reputation would be completely shot if he took over at Wolves and got them relegated.
