Summer transfer window 2023

Not really, not since some speculative links earlier in the window. It just strikes me as an extremely Everton move - a deadline day loan for a young, versatile attacker after missing out on several targets. He seems surplus to requirements at United, but they won't want to let him go permanently after his good season in the championship, a prem loan would make sense and he's all but guaranteed game time at Everton

Can't disagree with any of that.
In isolation MacAllister at £35 million is a good buy

The fee for Caicedo is insane. I think he's half decent but thats about it. I put his true value at about £60-70 mill.

Onana , there's definitely a player there but I want to see a lot and I mean a lot more from. At present I'd value him around £50 mill.
I think in this market Onana is far more than £50m but I actually agree with your logic, it's just the market is lunacy. I don't think Onana has shown all that much but he's clearly a good player and will become better. In saying that though looking at Enzo Fernandez, Rice and now Caicedo I genuinely don't think any of them are all that great, yet they're all £100m+ players apparently. The 3 are better than Onana but I don't think they're twice as good for example.

The market is just insane to be honest, £100m+ for decent young DMs makes no sense. Genuinely think to yourself what would Gareth Barry be worth in this market, I'm not even being funny he's easily a £120m player, which is utter nonsense in any reality.

.

The new strategy (or what seems to be the new strategy) of spending money on young players on manageable wages is just so much better. Even if you spend a decent wedge on a transfer fee, you’re vastly less likely to take an absolute bath if the signing doesn’t work out.
Wasn't that what Moshiri literally said he wanted to do years ago? Higher transfer fees, lower wages?

He (Caicedo) is only 21 and is an outstanding player. He could be in the heart of the RS midfield for 10 years. It could turn out to be a bargain signing. Further, he will have a big market value in 3 years as long as he keeps fit and maintains his standards. Football transfers are going up like everything else in the world. Villa is selling Ramsey to Burnley (a newly promoted team) for 14m + a buyback. That seems mad money for a kid that has never played one minute of PL or any top flight football. Bournemouth just paid 25m for 19 year old Alex Scott from Bristol. If these players can command this type of transfer fee then 100m for a proven quality player doesn't seem too ridiculous

It’s time @davek - break out the sniffer dog!

Barry, Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira would all be mental money in today's market.
