Hes 29 and we need to build a new team with limited funds. If we received £50mil for a 29 year old it would make sense to sell.



Then in 3 or 4 years he'd be worth nothing. Its a big ask to reject £50mil for someone with that time left at the top when we have limitations on spending.


His game is all about reflexes. Its not about positioning...the keepers that last (like Southall) werent reliant on reflexes, those keepers dont last as long.

My guess is at 34 he'll need to be replaced. That would mean a trade off of £50mil for 5 seasons.

That time has past now. Would we have been in that position with a different keeper and a goalscoring attacking player?

But you're also asking a huge thing of just replacing him as if its going to be really easy.

He has been a massive contributing factor to Everton not going into the championship. To actively want to sell him would be insane. We need to raise funds, for sure, but Onana is the one that can go with much, MUCH less damage done than pickford going would do.

We'd be begging for his replacement to of his level, becuase if his replacement wasn't his level, and was in goal last season or the season before, we'd have gone down. Don't underestimate how important it is to have a keeper who can be counted on when it matters.

That aside, if this happened & it was all the transfer budget on one player - with all the other signings being loans or free transfers - would you take it? Whether it’s Abraham, Gyokores or someone else similar, a strong No. 9 is the absolute priority so it’s a yes from me

Unless Begovic is choosing to go as he can get 1st team somewhere (no issue with that).

Letting him go is bizzare. Solid enough back up goalkeeper, could easily just do the Lonergan role as third keeper and a younger keeper, who could step up and then we'd have the capability of if a bid came for Pickford to let him go in the future.

What a bizarre decision *IF* we've not offered a renewal.

Good Luck to him, obviously didnt play much but didnt let us down.

Unfortunately he’s just had to have knee surgery again on his same knee that Van Dijk butchered when he was at Watford. Be a big risk for a 29 year old winger.

He has played the best football of his career though since coming back from that original ACL injury. Think certain players could learn a lot from his mentality.

Begovic leaving is the first surprise of the summer. A couple of different salary sites have put him on ~£40k p/w though, and Dyche is probably looking at that and thinking the wages could be used better elsewhere/we need to trim the wage bill hugely. Big saving, though I’ve always considered him one of the better backups in the league. Do quite like how ruthless we’re being so far.
