Why do some fans want us to sell our best player?
Nobody wants to but we have a very decent reserve keeper and need to generate cash for transfers. Enough out of contract to free up wages but I dont think we have a penny for signings. Still losing money remember.

No way he is coming here, got Villa all over him and for a lot more than £27m. No chance of us spending over £20m on one player .
The way you can break down the fees, regarding contracts. 20mil is nothing. Basically 4mil over 5yrs. I’m pretty sure we’d have 10mil to spend. Which could be 2 x 20mil players and 1x 10mil. Wages would be covered by the out of contract players.

Obviously to spend more and target a better class off player we’d Have tk sell at least one of Pickford or Onana

Thats the point mate.

20m isnt nothing, not if you dont "make" 20m in profit.

Which we dont.

I said 10mil, im sure we can spend that, also whet ever we spend from July 1st we have till June 30th 2024 to balance that years accounts

We don't have a very good back-up keeper. Begovic is a really poor keeper and certainly poor to be a no. 1.

If you can't stay away from the drop through having goals in your team, a top keeper makes all the difference. If we'd have had an average goalkeeper these last 2 years, we'd have sunk without trace.

But there are 2 aspects of the accounts.

There is the magical world of FFP, where figures arent real and they use things like amortisation, within this world, we can spend quite a lot.

Then there is the Profit and Loss, which means you post loses of 380million.

Our wages to income ratio is very, very bad.

We really should avoid signing any Premier League players.

Disagree. In our position we need to also look for as close to 'sure things' as possible.

After extending Branthwaite id be over to Chelsea and United for a loan each and Arsenal for Balogun permanent.

With the stadium on the horizon, sales made last season and £100mil+ dropping off FFP id expect wed have £30mil+ to use.

Also the Gallagher and Sarr January offers seem to underline this.

Weve also said the same about a few players down the years.

At the end of the day, Valencia need money and Anderlecht arent going to hold onto players.

If a deal is available for Pickford and we moved quickly anything is possible.

When did Thelwell make our first signing last season?
I’ve seen “why would he come to us then” for a few guys already and think it underestimates the power of the PL right now. It’s streets ahead in terms of quality, tv revenue and therefore wages. Most players who aren’t here want to play here and I think for a lot of players and agents the PL badge on the sleeve is more important than the club badge on the front.

But again Zat, there are 2 factors always at play.

FFP and P&L.

Both need to be considered.

Not to mention the current FFP rules are likely to be changed in the very near future.

We will make sales and we will spend money, how much we have, you could ask a tree, they would know as much as most.

I think the draw is going to be:

Premier league exposure and challenge
Stepping stone to a top side
Money
Playing with some of our current players

Thats one reason why I always want us to sign young players -- other young players see a pathway.

Some of the top young players in europe may join us over a United or Chelsea as they want to make sure they start every game and develop.

I might ask the "mum cryer" if hes a fan of Greenwood or any Forest players.

Would that count?

Yup, agreed and I think we saw some of those factors when we landed Onana last summer. And whether he does or doesn’t go to a top club this summer, the fact they are already sniffing show other young stars the pathway: top clubs are looking for a bit of PL experience and even if it’s just for a year or two getting to a club like Everton takes them much closer to a top PL side where everyone wants to be.

In the long term we don’t want to be that stepping stone club but right now it’s something we can use to our advantage.
