Comfortable on both feet, retains the ball well in his own third and is especially strong at breaking up play and his reading of the game is excellent - generally registers high for tackles and interceptions over the course of a season.
Granted he's not the quickest but when paired in a double pivot with a more mobile CM (as Dyche likes to play) he can run the game. And sure, under Dean Smith and Brodge he didn't look very good, but then who did.
Comparing to Sigurdsson or Gomes is nonsense, he's well out of their league. He isn't scared of tackling, for a start
