Summer transfer window 2023

I honestly think relegation is almost inevitable with this squad. People will blame dyche because they’re simple but keeping Everton up with this squad would be incredible because there is no class in it at all.
Horse manure, its not THAT bad.

But its ok, cos if Dyche cant get a tune out of them, the next fella will.

Some of our fans are nuts. We’re in this mess for over paying and buying crap in the past, and yet people are upset that we didn’t spend £35m on Gnonto, or £30m on some crap Southampton winger, or a loan for some West Ham player that’s injured more than DCL. Gnonto would of been the only exciting Signing from the links today, but I’m glad we walked away at that price.

No one wants us to overpay. Why do some always come out with comments like this when fans just want us to be a better team and be more competitive? What we all want is a strategy and a vision.

They have had all summer to get it right and only landed a striker this week. They ostracised Demarai Gray and will now have to reintegrate a player who hasn't trained with the team. They waited until deadline day to flog Iwobi, loan out Maupay and sell Tom Cannon for £7m after spending twice as much on a kid from Sporting.

They have let Coady and Mina leave - both full internationals for their respective countries and we started the season with Michael Keane. Now he's first choice back up when, in April, he was fourth choice. No additional centre back was brought in and they let Coady go when his fee was low.

We have an untested goalkeeper as cover for Pickford. We have serious gaps at fullback. We have zero creativity in the team. And let's not forget where we have finished the last two seasons.

We have team like Brighton bringing players in for small fees and turning them into superstars. The same team can attract a highly rated wonder kid from one of Europe's elite. All whilst we're scraping round looking for crumbs or chasing lost causes like Gnoto.

If we're so skint, why haven't we fully utilised the loan market to provide adequate support for a failing team. Why was there no succession planning executed for Iwobi when he's been dragging out the contract scenario for months.

So, you see, this isn't about overpaying. It's about getting answers.

I think my broker is hiring bookkeepers.

You missed the cash burn that is the stadium and its spiraling financing costs. For FFP purposes, how we pay for Beto doesn't matter. We're charged the depreciation on the transfer fee regardless of when payment is due. Kicking the can down the road does matter to cashflow, and making payroll.

The club is losing money despite the player sales, which is why those proceeds are disappearing down the same rabbit hole as the Arteta money.
i think the club is losing around 100 mil every season although that will reduce with the wage bill reducing from the sales and releases of high earning players

the club has to sell an asset every financial year to even try and keep afloat until the new stadium is finished

richarlison was the first one
gordon was the second one
looks like kean, iwobi, cannon and simms are the joint third ones

that will hopefully take us to the new stadium with losses over a three year period of no more than -105 mil

if not then pickford or onana are getting sold next season

the club then gets sold to a saudi billionaire and we win the league

The squad is at the very best slightly better than the one which was half an hour away from relegation just accept it we’re at the very best going to have the same season as last year if not considerably worse there’s no point pretending otherwise this squad is shockingly bad.

And they said 35m and we walked away. That is not scraping around.
We've been chasing the lad all summer and have been told several times to pay up or forget it, so to go back in on the last day of the window with yet another offer that we know doesn't meet their valuation is a perfect example of how dysfunctional our 'strategy' has been.

Your original point implied that people just wanted us to overpay for anybody just to get them in. No. We just want to see a club that has a coherent strategy. Absolutely nothing about this window gives any indication that we have any kind of strategy.

Again. Not one reliable source said we bid for anyone today. Another CB would of been ideal yes, but we just go with that we have.
I am sure will come out who we have bid for in time about today. We have no choice to go with what we have, we have just escaped going down past two seasons, not won a game in the league this season. Was not a season we should have taken chances, i just cant accept this window has been poor again for me

It’s just my opinion of course but I don’t see how this squad is better than the one we’ve had for the last two years and that’s barely stayed up and we’ve already had a worse start so can’t see us being safe with more than a game today which isn’t progress as far as I’m concerned.

The answer is simple …… Money. There is no money. It took so long for us to get a striker because we’re buying on the drip. Then there was the whole uncertainty of the investment and the money for the stadium. The club is losing money. Moshiri has been paying for the stadium himself and probably can’t commit money whilst he’s doing so.

We have a Striker mate.

I think we do need to be lucky with injuries.
