So if man utd tried to sign him for say £60m this summer, if you were director of football you would say no to 100% profit (less Lille sell on fee) in 12 months??

It's not the sensible risk averse strategy IMO. leaves you open to huge risk re: injury, turning out to be not that great etc etc

each to their own though.

If your property was almost certainly going to increase in value next year would you sell it to me today at a lower price than todays valuation?

Agreed, didn’t let the dire team he walked into affect him - really hit the ground running which is impressive enough, even more so for a young lad coming from South America.

Think the only place he slots into our team though is where Doucoure plays who has managed to give his Everton career a very belated reprieve, so unfortunately I can’t see us targeting any players in that position.

if my house had doubled in 12 months and I needed that money to buy my new house then yes I would, plus no one knows what’s going to happen in the intervening 12 months.

The issue is we are no longer seen as a top club. There are about 12 clubs in the prem who are currently more attractive than us and so, any decent footballer will no doubts have offers from one or more of these clubs.

Of course we are not a top club...I meant that playing for a club in the bottom half of the Premiership is still an attractive option for a decent standard of footballer. Maybe I'm deluded but I do think there is more cachet playing for Everton than for, say, Bournemouth

We just need to add a forward who gets us 8/10 goals and can provide 6/7 assists.

Dyche successfully adapted a few of our midfielders into goal scorers last season and that skill wont be forgotten.

If we're scoring 45-50 goals next season we'll be nowhere near relegation.
