I don't think you understand the theory properly m8, Simms at his age group in the youths looked a player heading to the top cos he stood out in size, stature and ability.
Since then has he looked like he was heading to the top, no he's stumped. he hasn't improved any more, I mean look at the clubs circling him. Even we don't feel he has the Ability and look at our attack.

I don't *want* a 38 year old on our right wing, I'd much prefer us to go out and sign an actual right winger with a bit of resale value (a la Onana). But the squad is thin and will only get thinner with sales, and finances are tight and will be until we're in Bramley Moore. On a free, it makes sense; there aren't many others in the free transfer market that would improve the squad. Villa fans generally still very positive about his performances last year, I'm sure @Villa_Fan will have an interesting take

I didn't say drop Doucoure by the way, Doucoure currently one of the first names on the team sheet. I also don't *know* its Young by the way, it just makes a lot of sense and fits with what @Tofeenut so cryptically shared. Getting annoyed at Young signing would be like getting annoyed at when Begovic signed - who's arsed, he's a decent squad player on the cheap

Pretty sure there weren't any 22 year olds with a better rate of goals and assists per 90 in the championship last year.

Simms issue is opportunity. And maybe with an extended opportunity he doesn't succeed. But I find the absolute certainty a lot of posters have regarding him to be a bit crazy given what he has done and how little time he's gotten.
