And my point being that we need to fundamentally change what we do. We got away with it (completely undeservedly) on several occasions throughout our recent (post 80s history). We have been a dire club for many years. Only now, the amount of money we spaff on dross has increased to breaking point. Plus we have the cost of stadium around us.

Need sharp changes.

Our transfer ability has cost us, but financing the stadium and the Russia war is what really has kicked us in the balls.

Oh yeah, no arguing about your last point – I think we'd already shot ourselves in the foot by the time the sanctions kicked in though.

Those teams that have spent noticeably more than us at least have some degree of success to show for it in European qualifications or cup wins.

We just kept plundering money into the team only for it to keep getting worse, it seemed like the most unsustainable model for how to run a football club. That's not news to anybody though!
