You can find it ignorant Eggs but when I come onto the transfer thread to look for optimism about potential new signings on this lovely Sunday afternoon...

I'm met with a thread of doomsdayers trying to out-do each other with who can come up with the most negative thing to say.

I get it, the clubs a 5hit show but I'm sick of seeing people saying we aren't going to spend a penny after spending every single summer transfer window prior.

Reading hyped up negativity is absolutely boring.

If you want optimism, the Transfer thread is not the thread you are looking for. I don’t see anyone saying we won’t spend, I think there’s an acceptance there won’t be much to spend and any inbounds (There were rumours of a target of six players) will be partially bulked out by frees or loans. By the way, we only spent £1.7m in the season Gray came in. I think we will spend more than that, but not much more.

I think most posters are being realistic.

Those things are all of course an issue.

But since when have we not made summer signings.

Even if Kenwright left tomorrow it'd make no difference to this season. Our financial situation means we are snookered for years to come.

The sooner he goes, the sooner we can start to genuinely recover. Every day he remains extends our limbo and increases the chance of oblivion.

No idea how long you have supported Everton but post Moore's era we have signed dross on a regular basis. Everyone has their favourites Spencer, Angell, Thomsen,Samways, Keeley,Koldrop,Walsh. The list is endless.Take a look at Sandro's stats at Málaga 16 goals in 31 couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo. It's just what we do.

And my point being that we need to fundamentally change what we do. We got away with it (completely undeservedly) on several occasions throughout our recent (post 80s history). We have been a dire club for many years. Only now, the amount of money we spaff on dross has increased to breaking point. Plus we have the cost of stadium around us.

Need sharp changes.

I am naturally pessimistic but I need to see signs to be optimistic

Signing 2 forwards before game 1 would make me optimistic.

He was better for Spurs, but a few games here and there - I generally thought he was decent but I think his style of play was more suited to a possession based team. In the end his highlight for us was scoring the winner in the Charity Shield.

We have signed a lot worse. He just seemed to come & go.
