Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

With Dewby Doo you get a player hopefully with something to prove after his Chelsea experience. Moyes has been good in his career getting these type of players and enabling them. Something we’ve lacked in the last ten years of recruitment is focusing on player character or looking for players with hunger, something to prove. Which has left us with a bunch of meek players incapable of handling tough times or the Goodson crowd. It’s left us with dossers happy to see out expensive contracts to my our cost.

Sorry for the cringe name, thanks for reading.

dewby dewby doooooooooo

You instantly made me think of this.

Cheers, son's crying, nice one.

All this plus the worst financial year we had just fell off the calculation. PSR really not a huge limiting factor right now- I don’t think we’ll spend nearly enough in one window to hit the ceiling.
I see people talking about our worst year dropping off, Toffee TV have said it too but it`s not true, apoplogies.

The year dropped off will be 21/22 (loss £38.3m, restated in 2023 accounts) and the 3 year rolling calc will be 22/23 (89.1m loss), 23/24 (£53.2m loss) and 24/25 we don`t know yet until early next year but it looks like we may have sold the womens team before the end of this year amongst other things..

Next year the big one drops off...

No that’s last year’s calculation, you’re doing it a year behind. The three year calculation for this season will include 23/24, 24/25, 25/26. Therefore 22/23, the bad one, drops off.

Happy with KDH, decent midfield signing and walks into our first team.

For 40+ million I would be wanting a finished article winger not a 19 year old, it might be time to walk away from the deal.

Positive getting signings over the line though, still need at least 5.
I don`t know if it has made it`s way on here but apparently someone at Southamptons academy reckons Dibling is the best prospect brought through in the last 30 years. Being as they brought through Walcott and Bale that is a big claim.

Would be good to have a separate thread on this type of stuff, give us all an idea of how much we have to spend and could make explaining it to people who don’t know - like me - a space for us to ask you questions.

Saints reportedly sticking to their minimum £40m fixed and pushing £50m all in for Dibling which has been the consistent position in their local media. We do not want to go there if we trust BBC (big if). Might Omari Hutchinson be where we pivot? Could it be one of the random linked names like the Georgian lad at St. Etienne?
